Any meaningful progress toward making this board a more peaceful and friendly place will take some time...Whatever new reality that is introduced to the boards at SETI will have to be experienced to be understood...I think it'll be more apparent to all of us when we see posts disappearing that didn't disappear before...There are a multitude of Sheriffs now...It won't be as easy to flame without fear of consequences...Because there are more eyes watching...I expect a few posters may find that they have been banned for doing things that have gotten through without punishment before...We can't claim that we haven't been warned...But I know there will be some who keep testing the limits to see where they are.... I just feel that security systems ought to be of to do more than just that, especially in the event that the intruder is unfriendly. Now, I want to build a secondary security system that uses Ultra low-frequency sound, which the intruder cannot hear but makes them feel as sick as a dog with blurred vision, headache, bubbling internal plumbing and the strong feel that they will fill their pants very soon unless they get out. Now ... that would be something! The problem is you would probably be sued by the burglar. Been done many times here in the States when homeowners have vicious dogs, yes even with "beware of dog" signs, etc. Anyone with a rudimentary education in the law can file a lawsuit and tie you up in Court for a very long time. Problem is there are some legitimate reasons people could be in your home even when the alarm is going off. Also burglars are criminals, and as such are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a Court of Law, doing punishment before that would be a crime on your part. The fact that they are in your home does not give you the right to met out punishment without your direct involvement, and then only when you or your family are in direct danger. Even cops can't just shoot burglars, unless the burglar threatens bodily harm to someone. ID: 460304 ·

The Policy and Rules now are much tougher and when a Mod asks for a ban the admins listen. They wouldn't listen during my time.
