Hope it's not a fluke, but I just uploaded and reported 4 WUs!!!

No fluke, all WUs have gone from me. That is with a little help from the BOINC Manager/Transfers tab/retry now button/

Doing that with 130 odd of your backlog will be a pain!

It was very helpful of the SETI staffers to come in on a Sunday and sort the problem!

Well done guys!!

Message 437209 - Posted: 15 Oct 2006, 21:46:39 UTC - in response to Message 436802.

— By the way, these wu's waiting for upload are occupying RAM are they not? Am I better to suspend S@h alltogether at the moment and would that clear the RAM from s@h-wu's waiting for upload?

WUs that have been completed are NOT stored in RAM, as this would cause them to be lost if you turn off your machine!!!

While WUs are being crunched, they are held in RAM, as well as the original which is kept on your hard drive. By default, the results crunched are svaed to HDD every 60 seconds, so if you stop BOINC, turn off your machine, have a power failure, etc, the work is not lost, and resumes when you restart BOINC.

Similarly, the result is stored on HDD until you upload to S@h.

Of course - how could it be otherwise. Thank's for response. Anyhow the problem is fixed by now as you may have noticed :-D

There is well over 400K WUs ready for distribution, as given by the Server Status page (http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/sah_status.html). But the 4 splitters are off.

Get the WUs you can now, before the stock are all gone!

However, the amount available is, I believe, worth nearly a day's normal WU results returns.

Yes, it now looks like one of the team has given up part of their Sunday to give one of the servers a good hard kick.
The feeder is presently offline so is more than likely undergoing a reboot to re-establish normal service, be patient, I am certain that normal service will be resumed quite soon.

Well done to whoever it was !!!!!!

Graeme.

We are temporarily halting the project as we're bringing the upload server back online. This will affect both uploads and downloads until we have the server back in working order.

Its being sorted

Thanks Seti Team, I was impressed by the 'after hours' repair. Uploaded my few results on both machines and got some new workunits to crunch...computers happy with something to do other then wait for me to play on the Internet...

Have you checked out your "outstanding credit" in General Preferences?

Sometimes the credit is not granted as others have not reported in in sufficient numbers!

Yes, everything seems to be working now, how ever the validate errors have not been fixed and credits have not been granted for those WUs.

For example this one http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/workunit.php?wuid=94404016 ... lost for good this time ?

Theres 2 people that turned it in successfully, you being 1. Theres only 3 errors. The max is 5. That result is still fine until it maxes out on errors. So its not a lost cause. You still have to wait till the 3rd successful person returns their work.

I turned the workunits successfully too. Had the same problem yesterday, having 403 errors but when I got home from work today, it had uploaded successfully the units and got the credit for it.
