I received an email claiming that I had yet to register for a Boinc client credit. I have used Boinc almost from its inception. I am wondering if the following is a phishing trip? Dear ???????????: We notice that you registered with SETI@home on 03 April 1999, and that we haven't yet credited you with any completed work for SETI@home/BOINC. Your computing power is important to SETI@home. If you had problems installing or running the software, please visit the Questions and Answers area of our web site. You may find the solution to your problem there; if not, you can ask for help from project volunteers and staff. We also encourage you to fill out the BOINC user survey. to give us feedback on how to make SETI@home easier to use. Thanks! -- The SETI@home team If you'd like to not get any more email from us, please click here. Kenn What is left unsaid is neither heard, nor heeded. I received an email claiming that I had yet to register for a Boinc client credit. I have used Boinc almost from its inception. There's a few people who are getting this email too. Did you by chance make another account? The email says you registered April 03, 1999, yet under your name I see Aug 24, 1999. I'm guessing you must have registered 2 times, with the same email, but not sure. I highly doubt its a phishing trip. :-) Jeremy ![]() |

Did you have two accounts on Classic? One may have been sent to the 2nd one. ![]() My movie https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/502242 |

If you received such an email, it's very well possible you had multiple accounts when crunching Seti Classic. You can still easily get multiple accounts, by registering with two different email addresses. |

I received the same message saying since registration on 4 July 1999 I had no credits. This is nonsense as I have over 9000 hours plus time on several other BOINC projects. I did, however, stop using BOINC after realizing I was processing Seti units 2 - 4 years old that I'm sure had been through the grinder countless times. I suspected it was my inactivity that triggered an auto-enquiry. If that's the case, it is poorly constructed, making me think of 9000 hours of wasted time on a project I thought was a really neat if a bit optimistic. The redundency of Seti modules was cold enough gruel let alone the apparent years of waste. The display shows my credits though, as does the BOINC manager so I'm left wondering if the letter was phishing or just an ill-considered reminder. Nerdgazer |

Seti Classic didn't mind recrunching WUs multiple times, but all work done through Seti/BOINC was work that was never crunched before. With Seti Enhanced it might be possible they go back to some old tapes as the application looks far deeper into the data. And even then it doesn't matter as when a signal would be found, it's tens of thousands of years old. You think a (light)year more or less matters? New data is being recorded, we're just waiting for the next Seti Enhanced application that can use it. |

Classic credits are not added to Boinc since the credit system is not compatible. The credits are shown separately in your account information as Pooh Bear pointed out. SETI@home classic workunits 393 The credit thing is beginning to nag me. Just toted up what BOINC says I have on three registered projects and it shows 25243.2 credits and RAC(?) of 53.52 yet my sig shows zero. All these figures are from BOINC activity. Any idea why they don't show up in the sig? Do I need another hobby? Nerdgazer |

According to Boinc Synergy stats, you are crunching for 3 projects. Yet the unique identifier in none of these projects is your account name. It's the email address with which you registered to the project. Seeing that you have a different CPID (Cross Project IDentifier) for Seti and Einstein/Predictor, makes me believe you used two different email addresses to attach to those projects with. It's easily checked on here, though, by opening your account_setiathome.berkeley.edu.xml file in your \\BOINC\\ folder, copy out the 32 character key in between the <authenticator></authenticator> tags and use that key to log in with on the Login link. Post back with that account in here. I'm going to bet, it's this account with ID 8279130 that you'll post back with. ;-) |

Jord. Followed your suggestions. The Cross-Project ID's are different for Seti & Einstein. They are both registered to the same email address. The third - Rosetta - has little info except my usrname is different and I don't see 'ID 8279130' anywhere. This is quite confusing and opaque to me. NG |

Hold on... sig... signature... I have those stupid things not showing. ;) Turned on sigs, reloaded this thread. I don't see a signature picture in any of your posts. So tell me what you mean. See Pooh Bear 27's posts in this thread? He has a signature picture showing his credits. Is that what you mean? |

Hold on... sig... signature... I have those stupid things not showing. ;) Yes, sig(signature) the data at the left with name, ID#, credits etc. The remaining issue is that my credits show zeros - which is not correct. I have not chosen a picture (avatar) yet but an avatar does not seem necessary. Some posters have them, some don't. Nerdgazer |

I have not chosen a picture (avatar) yet but an avatar does not seem necessary. Some posters have them, some don't. The stuff on the left is JUST for SETI. You are on SETI board, so it does not show credits for other projects. Look at my numbers on the left, then look at my numbers below. I have over 1 Million credits in 3 project, but on the left it only shows what I did on SETI, no where else. ![]() My movie https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/502242 |

Yes, I know what forum I'm on and I also have some thousands of credits from Seti/BOINC as shown on my Seti screensaver display. I am not about waving these credits at anyone. After settling another question further down this thread, I am now trying to puzzle out why those credits do not show in the sig display. It was suggested the cause was related to the way I registered. Can you advise me how to fix this? Thanks. Nerdgazer |

Are you referring to the data underneath your username in the left column of the forums (where it says: Joined: xxx Posts: xxx, ID: xxx, Credit: xxx, RAC: xxx), or underneath every post you make? |
