Bog Guy,

You're beating me!!! My Einstein box says only 131 hours and 12 minutes.

I've got one currently at 167 hrs & 36 minutes. I don't think you can get above 168 hrs which is a week. But perhaps someone can do better ...

No, the max seems to be this one:

31/05/2006 14:00:52|Einstein@Home|4 consecutive failures fetching scheduler list - deferring 604800 seconds

That is 168h. :-)

Have you heard any more news about Einstein recently????

When you're dealing with air conditioning issues, it could be a while...the last thing you want is the equipment to overheat. If some of the equipment did overheat it could take a while for them to sort things out over there I would think...

Everyone just read Eric Myer's post here and click on the picture links to see what the UWM/Einstein server room looks like. :)

You could infer from their UPS loads that their air conditioning is ok and the cluster is running, but that Einstein servers are still mostly off.

With a 300 Node cluster running 24/7 in an enclosed room...

Probably a considerable amount, regardless of what the outside climate may be.

How much air conditioning do you really need in Wisconsin?

My experience after 20+ years of spending summers with in-laws in the Madison WI area is:

1) Summer temperatures in the +90 F region are common, and +100 F is not unknown. "It helps the corn grow"

2) Air conditioning sometimes comes free and uninvited in the form of tornadoes.

Free is a rather loose term...

Specially for tornadoes...

LOL, that certainly is an unique way of looking at tornadoes!

The A/C effect is kinda radical and somewhat permenant to the existing structure though. ;-)

Yeah and rather extremely hard on the hardware too. Torn cables, dented or pierced boxes or monitors, etc.

I'll pass as the Desert around here only has extreme heat and sometimes the occasional earthquake.

It came up briefly around 11:30 Pacific Time, about 15 minutes ago from posting time, since that's when one of my completed Einstein units uploaded. Haven't been able to see any evidence since.

I think I'm just going to continue suspending network activity until things stabilize at UW-M. No sense in trashing a recovering server with thousands of simulataneous uploads. The bonus is that SETI is getting even more cruching time while this all sorts out. :)

The short period in which uploads were working again was probably around 5 minutes long. Some of my WUs that tried to upload shortly afterwards were unable to.
