Thanks. I'm glad to be here :) Answer two questions for me? (I didn't want to bother the number crunch people with these). 1. How do I get the stats for "SETI@home classic workunits" and "SETI@home classic CPU time" on my "Account Information" page? I use only one of my two CPUs because it's really just one computer with a dual-core Pentium Intel chip (not two computers, as Seti seems to think), so using both CPUs puts just too heavy a load on my machine. But my machine is set to 100% for s@h and I have no other projects running. So, what's the s@h "classic" all about? Did I make some mistake in registration or setup? It'd be nice to have those stats. 2. I've got avatar problems. My Snidely Whiplash avatar is only 14 KB so it's under the 50KB limit, but it just doesn't show on the posts (you can see it in my profile though). "YO! Man! Whaddup wid dat?" Tx |

My friends, please keep track of this post to see how long it takes to get moderated. My hearty thanks.... (-:< n00bie says: Noooooo! Don't delete this thread! It's so amusing! Moderators are always the target of criticism, most of it *ahem* unenlightened (Lordy, I should know). However, the "characters" like Penny give juice to message boards, and when the dust settles, they often find their place in a community. Maybe you could use a special forum (call it "The Outer Limits" let's say), where people can vent their frustrations and agressions freely and without reproach? Just a thought. |

n00bie says: Thierry is just deleting any further posts in that thread. He said it was closed and it looks like he meant it. Penny is not here to be part of the community..he/she is just here to annoy people. If he/she couldn't do that then he/she would have no interest in posting here. Reality Internet Personality |

Hi Es99, Some forums don't tolerate disrupters; and some forums make a special place where disruptors (and others) can be agressive and other members can have fun being aggressive back, and move such posts into that place. (That's more work, but makes for a livelier board). But you all know best, I'm sure. I'm happy to hear that the thread will be closed, rather than deleted: I like a little spice in a forum. I'm not as sure of Penny's intentions (but then again, what do I know?). There are some people, and many more of them are 25 years-old or younger, who take their First Ammendment free speech rights very personally and seriously. From their point of view, we're all Nazis trying to kill freedom of expression. So, this may be a generation gap misunderstanding (or not). Whether Penny is merely a troll or a Free-speacher, I just couldn't say. Don't get me wrong: I'm happy with whatever you decide. :) |

And now, Dear Friends, back to my first question: 1. Okay, what I've learned so far is, that Seti Classic doesn't exist any more. But I don't care about that, only about getting stats on my Account Information page for the current number of total work units and the total CPU Time. It'd be nice to have them on the "Account Information" page. Can those items be imported from somewhere else? If so, how? Any suggestions would be appreciated. :) |
