Don't know how much I've been contributing to these message boards, but if anybody has been following, then this is to let them know that yesterday I received approval from the Institutional Review Board to start my pilot study towards my dissertation in mathematics education. (That was one long sentence!) So, if things go as planned, beginning in about 1.5 weeks I'll be very busy and not showing up here as much.

BTW, Institutional Review Board is a group that makes sure research conducted with human subjects is ethical, that the subjects' privacy is maintained, etc. ... .

Sarge!

This is great news. I remember going through IRB with my master's thesis. God, I'm glad I'm done with grad school.

And, if you're interested, my thesis was on whether 5 month old infants could add and subtract. Not that I belived that, I was trying to test alternative hypotheses about an already published study. Guess what... They can't!

Ok, time to tell us ignorants from the other side of the world what's so special about peanutbutter on bread, and what nanners is/are.

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are good :-) Yum.

..not sure about with the 'nanner's though..they're better on toast with a little cinnamon.

By jelly, are we talking about the wibble-wobble dessert served with cream?

We call that Jam, made from strawberries and stuff.

Jam still has a thick texture to it and somewhat resemble the fruits they are made from. Jelly's are usually translucent and more closely resemble the fruit JUICE they are made from. Preserves are Jams that still have chunks of the fruit they are made from.
