I wonder if I could prevail upon the more free-speech-minded SETI@home teams/processing providers to yank their machines temporarily or till such time as the boys at Berkeley revert back to the unmoderated boards...

Hey! Leave Michael Moore alone!

[Edit]..But he never claimed that nobody died in the Pentagon crash on 9/11. All he does is take research from other less accessible academics and try and make it a bit easier to understand. The worse you can say is that he is irritating and goes on a bit sometimes.

Heh heh. He deserves all that he gets. Just like Ann Coulter, or Al Franken or any other irrational partisan hack.

Yeah, that's what Moore does. And Ann Coulter is just explaining complex political negotiations--retrieving the little nuggets of truth contained therein.

Rush, I'm afraid I haven't read any Ann Coulter so I can't comment. I shall be sure to go and check her out. If you don't like her she must be good ;-)

As for being partisan, how much airtime does he get compared to the pro war, support your troops..etc info barrage you are subjected to over there? Shouldn't people be allowed to hear a different viewpoint?

Moore is preparing to sue critics of his film
From the New York Times (reg required):

Mr. Moore is readying for a conservative counterattack, saying he has created a political-style "war room" to offer an instant response to any assault on the film's credibility. He has retained Chris Lehane, a Democratic Party strategist known as a master of the black art of "oppo," or opposition research, used to discredit detractors. He also hired outside fact-checkers, led by a former general counsel of The New Yorker and a veteran member of that magazine's legendary fact-checking team, to vet the film. And he is threatening to go one step further, saying he has consulted with lawyers who can bring defamation suits against anyone who maligns the film or damages his reputation.

Why it's more fun Hyjacking a thread of someone who preaches free speech and then is appalled by those that do because it disagrees with his own point of view.

Hmmmm I wonder if Simon the Imposter is related to a certain Dixie Chick..

Think I will add a few more PCs to my list.

PS. Ann is married to an ultra conservative Democrat. Makes for interesting bedtime conversation or a rather interesting political show on Sundays..

Yeah, hijacking is what we do to trolls like that!

You mean a certain cajun with a girls name!? Nah, I think this is a different one, even they very well could come from the same litter, because this one only preach conspiracies and and the cajun girlie one was more of a racist. They both seems to have some special sexual preferences though!

Hmmmm. She is as far right and maybe a bit farther to the right than Michael Moore is to the left. Still think she must be good?

As for being partisan, how much airtime does he get compared to the pro war, support your troops..etc info barrage you are subjected to over there?

We would disagree on the "info barrage." Much of the media is focusing on the "Dubya lied" angle, and some of them are starting to notice that they ALL lied, those on the left, the UN, the weapons inspectors, everyone said whatever the hell was convenient to them at the time. Surprise, surprise.

Shouldn't people be allowed to hear a different viewpoint?

I don't understand you. Michael Moore had one of the more successful movies in theatres last year. Anyone who wishes can listen to him crab. My problem with him is that he crabs about his target's misleading rhetoric, that his target is biased and advancing an obvious agenda, and then proceeds to do the exact same thing. For some reason he thinks its OK when he does it, but it isn't OK for those he disagrees with to do it.

You don't have to agree with going to Iraq, but using reasoning from Farenheit 9/11 (or any of the rest of them) will destroy your credibility.

Exactly. Much like Michael Moore is the Kerryey doyen of misinformation and lies. That was my point. It's wrong regardless of which side does it.

I'd post a pic here, but it would just be Michael Moore. You can find pics of him everywhere. Both adulterated and not.

Rush, we've kinda carried this on over in the political thread. A couple of things before I go back to trying to make vegetable soup (any pointers here would be helpful, cooking is too much like chemistry and I'm not that good at it. I'm worried the carrots are going to be underdone..you don't fry carrots do you?)

..uh..where was I? Please don't post any pictures of Michael Moore. He is terribly unattractive and I know what he looks like. When I saw farenheit 9/11 there was nothing in it that I hadn't heard better (with the evidence to back it) somewhere else. I'm sure I would absolutely hate Ann Coulter and she would be one of the 1st up against the wall when the revolution comes ;-)

I can't remember what else I was going to say because I am now worried about these carrots..oh info barrage...so the media has now turned has it? Do you think that you are still getting the truth? Of is it all smoke and mirrors and misdirection.

Sometimes I wonder if our troll here is really a CIA infiltrator trying to discredit (by proposing crazy conspiracy theories) those who have concerns over the real causes of 9/11 and how it has since been used to bring in a whole raft of measures that restrict civil liberties.

Any advice on vegetable soup would be welcome.

Yeah, I was a tool, I noticed too late...

A couple of things before I go back to trying to make vegetable soup (any pointers here would be helpful, cooking is too much like chemistry and I'm not that good at it. I'm worried the carrots are going to be underdone..you don't fry carrots do you?)

Sure you can. Saute them lightly in a bit of the soup broth to the consistency you want them, and then throw them in two minutes before you serve it, just to make sure they are warmed through. For richer soup, use a touch of butter, veal stock, or demiglace with the carrots.

I can't remember what else I was going to say because I am now worried about these carrots..oh info barrage...so the media has now turned has it? Do you think that you are still getting the truth? Of is it all smoke and mirrors and misdirection.

I think the overwhelming majority of Americans, especially urban, can get infinite sources for their news. They have to wade through it and decide for themselves. Listening to Kerry or Schumer or Ted Kennedy is like asking the cat where the bird went.

Thanks Captain. I've bought vegetable stock. Should I fry the onions a lttle 1st? I've decided to steam the carrots in the microwave a little or the soup will never be ready in time..
