Hello everyone ! Does anyone know how i can make working Yahoo normally with my new Firefox , just like before with IE ? I like to have all my web sites in Yahoo on my Firefox toolbars .

Thank you

i save the websites i go to most on the "bookmarks toolbar"...you could do the same with your yahoo sites...or you could download the "yahoo companion" toolbar extension.

Dear Dan, i tried everything : bookmarks , even installing yahoo toolbar on Firefox, but i can't use Yahoo as usual, for example i can only open directly my e-mails, apart this it's impossible going on My Yahoo where i consult all the news, or going to yahoo horoscope, or Yahoo International Chat, when i go to french chatrooms, or consulting Yahoo France where i consult everything in french and so on . I don't understand what is wrong with this . Do you guess something in this field ?

Thank you

all i can think of is to go to each site individually...and then place each site in the bookmark toolbar as you go.

Ariane, you can go to Yahoo Bookmarks and Import/Export your bookmarks. You can import your bookmarks from IE into FF's 'Bookmarks Toolbar Folder' and/or manage them to your liking. If you are having a problem viewing the Yahoo toolbar within FF then you can click on 'View' and make your choices there...

I hope that helps you out some.

How come it doesn't work in Internet Exploder?

It was explained in an another thread somewhere, I don't remember where, so look around. But it's a bug in the code, that makes IE ignore the code and FF to override it and make the link.

Dan , i'm really very satisfied with FF, and for nothing in the world i will change it, although i couldn't solve the problem of Import/Export of my favorites in yahoo to FF, i think i tried everything imaginable to fix this problem within the last 2 days. Finally i'm obliged using IE for some of my web in yahoo and it doesn't bother me . Anyway thank you .

Ariane, if you can't resolve the toolbar issue in any other way, there is an extension for Firefox called 'IE View'. You won't have to open Internet Exploder seperately, Firefox will do it for you. Then when you are finished with your Yahoo accounts, close IE and Firefox will still be there waiting for you.

IEView

Hope this helps.

There are actually site, one can't access with FF. Some sites with personal informations about me, my social security number, my medical record, hospital records, all kind of information used by the authorities here, use a digital signature to get there, and this signature only works with IE.

I don't know if this extension can solve this, but I'll try.

EDIT: I tried to open one of my personal sites, and all this extension does, is that it opens a new IE browser, but Ok, instead of opening an IE browser from the beginning, one can just click on the extension, and it does that for that site.

But I have these sites bookmarked in IE anyway, so...

But it seems that Microsoft has got the upper hand in developing these systems, which allows the citizens to see their personal informations on the 'net! :-(

So, what you're saying is that there's another security reason for NOT using Indecent Exposure. Hmmmm.... >:-| |-:<

Has anyone tried this one? This extension is embedding Internet Explorer in tabs of FF.

No, Siran, it's the opposite. If I want to use my digital signature to log on to e.g. my private health insurance, and I try to log on in Firefox, I get this site:

My digital signature works only with IE! I don't know how it is in other countries, but here they apparently have made the system to only work with IE! And one can only wonder why the people responsible for creating the system have chosen that solution!

As I have said before, if I HAVE to use IE for ANYTHING, then it's not worth doing whatever strictly requires IE. I will NOT use IE for ANY reason! Long ago, Microsoft would not allow Netscape to access it's support site. I never went back to their site. Sorry, but, just my opinion.... >:-) (-:<

ADDENDUM: I am not coding my website to exclude IE. I don't like the idea of other websites coding to exclude all but IE.

Again, I don't know how the systems requiring encryption are made in other countries, but here, there are several sites I simply can't go to without my digital signature! Ok, I can choose to not being able to see information about myself, and go personally to the different offices and do what I need to do, but I don't want spend time and money to go to e.g. the tax department in an another town in their business hours, stand in line there, discuss my personal affairs at a desk, and then go home again, while I can log on sitting at home at my own desk, at the time, it suits me, and do my tax form!

The same about my personal health insurance, why go to the office to get my refund, when I can sit at home, log on and have my money put on my bank account? So I live with IE for this. But again it's one's own choice, and if the system is different in other countries, then fine, but here it's like this! But again, one can only wonder why the people responsible for developing the encryption and digital signatures have chosen this!

I understand why you must use it. I'm thinking "kickbacks". Maybe those coding exclusively for IE are getting "kickbacks" from M$ for doing so. Think about it.... M$ will sell more copies of Winblows so that people can use IE for the purpose you use it for.

As an aside, I check the stats on my site daily. IE is NOT the #1 browser used to access my site. As of this moment, I have 560 overall hits with IE, 12.9%. I have 3155 hits overall with Firefox, 72.9%. The "kickbacks" theory seems very sound to me.... >:-) (-:<
