Can someone tell me what preferences I have to change or not now that I am using broadband? It was set up for dial up so I need to know. Thank you for this help.

Confirm before connecting to Internet?
(matters only if you use a modem) no
Disconnect when done?
(matters only if you use a modem) no

Other than that, whatever you want it to
No matter where you go, there you are...

Also trim your connect every X days back to 1 or less assuming that you are running more than one project.

PS, congratulations on the upgrade.

Now may be a good time to go to DSL Reports or PC Pitstop. They both have tools that will check your machine to see if it is set correctly for broadband.

Check for spyware that may have entered your computer unnoticed now you have Broadband? Or for any worms/viruses/other nasties. Check what is taking up your CPU. If it is only the Seti unit, you may have a slightly different unit. Slightly longer one.

I love SpyBot S&D for my Windows spyware checks.

Spybot is good, but not by itself. Try and use a couple, if you can AdAware is a good second tool.

Avoid IE, Outlook and Outlook Express. Try and use Firefox, Opera, or other 3rd party browser and e-mail programs.

I also found a great pop-up/ad blocker called Proxomitron, but it no longer is supported. You might be able to find a copy on the web, and is an awesome tool to block the ad pop-ups that install software on your machine.
