I do read every view point I can find. With general news, there isn't much difference. With anything political, the differences can be vast.I do NOT see an independent. I see a viewpoint steeped in liberal academia. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

I do NOT see an independent. I see a viewpoint steeped in liberal academia. What you see is what your tribe tells you to see. I look for solutions to problems that have a history of success. I don't care where a solution comes from. Sometimes it is from the left, sometimes the right, and sometimes neither of them. What I do follow is science. I have followed science my whole life, and understand it changes with new information. My knowledge of science is not political, but fact based. It is improving every day of my life. My view points can and do change with new information, so I do not limit myself to one ideology or another. Nothing I am seeing with the current administration has a history of solving problems, only creating more. Look at what happened to Kansas, and before that Michigan. They passed similar tax legislation, and created huge problems, without the businesses coming in, and an almost total failure of their infrastructure. So if this is a liberal view, than I'm OK with that. Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group. GPUUG Website |

"Income Inequality".........no such thing exists in countries like Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, China, Russia or the EU does it? Why, a boy from the farm can grow up to be the Dear Leader of DPRK can he not? Every little girl in Iran can become the Ayatollah can't she? The poorest tribal member in Saudi Arabia can aspire to the same income level as the Crown prince. Yes it's the evil American system that prevents a boy from a dirt poor ranch in Texas becoming the Governor and then running for President of the country. We are all so down trodden and cursed here in the US by the evil corporate masters who pay a higher wage to their slaves than the majority of the rest of the world and those slaves are not allowed to seek other employment or better education. We are doomed indeed. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

What? "Income Inequality".........no such thing exists in countries like Venezuela, Cuba, Iran, North Korea, China, Russia or the EU does it? First of all EU is NOT a country. And Russia have a counterpart to the EU called the Eurasian Economic Union (EEU) Do you know what countries are part of the EEU? You need some more facts? Bundle up countries like you do is very bad! |

"What you see is what your tribe tells you to see." I disagree, it is what the citizens in Kansas saw after Brownback shafted them |

Of course you agree with an Illiberal description and attack. So you think the citizens in Kansas were duped into voting in a legislature which overrode Brownback. |

You mean "The Tribe" description of citizens you disagree with, is correct and liberal? The Tribe in Kansas disagreed with the ultra conservative governor, that is a fact. He destroyed their public schools, roads, and other infrastructure with his tax cuts and trickle down nonsense. Liberal or conservative by definition a society has certain needs. Only an anarchist would disagree. Are you an anarchist? I doubt it but you are taking that position. |

Sorry, you cannot deflect from the Illiberal "Tribe" attack against a poster. Just pointing a a fact, that you consider facts to be a deflection says much about you and the dark place which you reside. |

Do you know what countries are part of the EEU?Don't know, care less. They do not contribute to my or my families welfare so they do not matter and I do not lose sleep over their opinions or beliefs. Just as they should not lose sleep over mine. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

They do not contribute to my or my families welfare so they do not matter and I do not lose sleep over their opinions or beliefs. So the USA can do without some of the $220 billion that tourism bring in each year. I suspect quite a lot of that is from the EU I have watched theses threads and have to say that I am seriously reconsidering my "Trip of a lifetime" across the USA as I see more and more the isolationist stance, and that I am not wanted in the US. I see it in news stories and in many tweets that lead me to believe the USA no long cares what happens in the rest of the world and would rather retreat behind walls and barriers and let the rest of the world go to hell. I have to say it seem that perhaps it is the right time to let this happen. The world will suffer and things will be tough but the rest of the world now needs to see if it can get on without the US. I now have no wish to feel I owe anything to the USA. |

I have different experience. On our coast to coast road trip last year i felt very welcome. Of course in some places people didn`t even know what germany or europe is but this was minority. We met very nice people in each state we drove through and i had many conversations in dozens rest areas on the highway. OTOH we made it to see the country and needless to say its not possible that everybody likes anybody. With each crime and every kindness we birth our future. |

Debatable, especially if one believes the following: -They do not contribute to my or my families welfare so they do not matter and I do not lose sleep over their opinions or beliefs. "President Trump's visit to the USS Gerald Ford resulted in a well received speech, saying "American hands and American steel constructed a 100,000 ton message to the world: American might is second to none" CVN 78 CVN 79 CVN 80 $40 billion+, & 50 years of running costs, so much for isolationism. It also mocks those who state that the Yanks are going home. On a personal note, nice to see another USS Enterprise sail the seas (& nothing to do whatsoever with Star Trek - CV 6 was the most decorated warship in history). |

As I said. Good luck with the 'replacements' of the USA.Really? So that $40 billion+ & running costs for the next 50 years is just your government wasting your tax dollars just so your country can look "big" to the rest of the world? |

LOL & your problem is that "Americas might is second to none" yet you cannot deal satisfactory with a "small" Asian country. Good luck on that one :-)As I said. Good luck with the 'replacements' of the USA.Really? So that $40 billion+ & running costs for the next 50 years is just your government wasting your tax dollars just so your country can look "big" to the rest of the world? As a retired history teacher, you should recognise this name: Alfred Thayer Mahan. His dictum was: Whoever rules the sea, rules the world. |
