The US will not allow DPRK to have deliverable nuclear warheads, and Kim will not give them up.That's a bit of an oxymoron. They already have them. They aren't giving them up except by using them. Not after they have seen what the USA/UN did in Iraq when they agreed to inspectors and what happened to Saddam. Understand shrub has severe consequences. Otherwise we have the proverbial 'Mexican Standoff'.It is already game over. Standoff isn't their game, it is yours. Again, what does Kim want? As to your China involvement, would you trust China to do the verifying that Kim got rid of his nukes? Know Kim won't allow USA/UN to set foot there after shrub's adventure in Iraq. Do you trust China? Remember they just elevated Xi to Mao's level. In any case j mercer is correct, Kim wants respect. Calling him little rocket man is not respect. Game over. There is something else he wants. Anyone care to state it? Hint: One of the same things you do. |

Respect is a 2 way street, it must be earn't first to be acknowledged and neither little fat persons have come close to doing either. ;-)And there we have it. Neither of the 'bickering children' have earned the respect of the other. Both are dismissed as such and therein lies the danger to the world. And to the idea Odd Nut Job wants the same as America, got no problem with that but reread what I posted paying close attention to......"that don't involve harm to innocent life or threaten our lives." If you respond that the US/UN threatens DPRK lives, that is "in response" to the 40000 artillery pointed at and threatening US and So Korean lives for 64 years. Who will trust whom.......................first? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fRj5sVN8_5A "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

Neither of the 'bickering children' have earned the respect of the other. Both are dismissed as such and therein lies the danger to the world. Can either be trusted? I know I wouldn't trust Trump. He wants an assurance that North Korea will stop all nuclear weapons production and research but that's what negotiation got with Iran and Trump wants to tear that treaty up. At the moment most governments will be wary of agreeing treaties with the US because it seems that the next President can just rip them up. It is going to take decades for the US to rid itself of that impression. |

Trump wants to tear that treaty up. Please do research, there is NO treaty with Iran. There is a non-binding agreement. The same as DPRK, no treaty. A treaty requires ratification of the US Congress which Obama knew he would never get because the deal frankly stank to high heaven. And the 'agreement' has not curtailed Iran's ambitions, only delayed and eventually cleared the way for their domination of the Middle East. An actual treaty, such as SALT would require mutual ratification and verification of compliance which worked 'pretty well' with Russia and the US(until recently). So Trump is not 'tearing up a treaty', he is decertifying a one sided agreement that does not achieve the goals that were intended. "Sour Grapes make a bitter Whine." <(0)> |

If not, same can be said from the DPRK side. If you say we could be trusted, remember Chosin was a bit far North of Pyongyang so it isn't like we didn't show them we didn't want them to survive, in fact we stated at the time they were to be one under Seoul, as a puppet of the USA. They have long memories. Only way is for there to be a peace treaty, and/or a surrender. ROK and DPRK can likely work out an amicable peace treaty between themselves*. USA will have to surrender, like Vietnam, and withdraw. Then Korea will be for the Koreans, not China, Russia or the USA. There is no other exit strategy that will not involve massive bloodshed. *they are sending each other's fishing boats back across the border already. |

Will 45 understand the de-brief from Defense Secretary Jim Mattis after his visit to the DMZ. Mattis got a sense of this first hand the day before, when he visited the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) that separates the two countries with South Korean Defense Minister Song Young-Moo. While there, Song pointed to North Korea’s long-range artillery in the distance and suggested it would be “unfeasible†to defend against them in a conflict. WaPo - As Mattis promises ‘massive military response’ to North Korea strike, threat of artillery hangs over Seoul |

"Understood" from this former Marine General Officer could mean he understands the need to eliminate the problem before he has to defend against it.........two of his quotes..... "I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you f**k with me, I’ll kill you all." (San Diego Union Tribune) "I’m going to plead with you, do not cross us. Because if you do, the survivors will write about what we do here for 10,000 years." (San Diego Union Tribune) ..........hopefully someone in the DPRK is listening and "understands". Personally I think Trump is providing Kim with plenty of verbal ammunition to allievate the serious issues he is facing at home, much like the Junta did in 1982. Didn't do them much good. As for the good ole USA, remains to be seen. |

If only they had listened to Douglas MacArthur 67 years ago, when the US was the ONLY country with working nuclear weapons none of this would be happening today. If only they had listened to Douglas MacArthur 67 years ago, when the US was the ONLY country with working nuclear weapons none of this would be happening today.Incorrect. While American experts had predicted that the Soviet Union would not have nuclear weapons until the mid-1950s, the first Soviet bomb was detonated on August 29, 1949, shocking the entire world. |

If only they had listened to Douglas MacArthur 67 years ago, when the US was the ONLY country with working nuclear weapons none of this would be happening today.Incorrect. Yeah I know but that was not an operational unit. It was several years before they had a useful stockpile of nuclear weapons. One bomb with no way to deliver it is not a threat.
