No problems here with caches while work is available.

Cheers.

And now a new annoying quirk has materialised. Now I've got a message in my Manager Notices tab telling me Your app_info.xml file doesn't have a usable version of AstroPulse v7. Which makes sense as I didn't install one.
Every so often it makes an appearance in the Event Log which is OK, but having it in the Manager Notices tab?

That's because you have told the server you want AP work in your prefs but you have no app for it.

And even when I don't have that option selected I still get the messages in the Event log. Just getting it in the Manager Notices is new.

Splitter output has been steadily dropping (mid 30s, low 30s, mid 20s, now down to 13/sec), could be another file with stuck splitters?
18fe09ag shows 5 splitters working on it, with no completed channels at this stage.
Something to keep an eye on.

That tape has 5 splitters on it locked up and doing nothing. The servers have run me out of work overnight again. This is gotten old very fast. Wish someone would look into it and fix it.
That trick of changing the account settings doesn't seem to work for me to often.
I feel that it has something to do with the web page upgrade and that broken switch on the account settings page, that's really when my troubles with downloads started.

Here's hoping.

The trick of changing options only works when the servers have a big pool of work to send and the splitters are working properly. With the splitters dead in the water and the pool empty us getting work is going to be a very hit and miss event, over which we have no control.

in the next 5 hrs I'll be adding the last 9 "ghosts" to the available pool (not much but they'll finely get done (sorry wings!)). I guess it was too much Christmas punch.

Now down to about a dozen tasks or so on all three machines. The splitter hangup on one tape is getting old and I wish they would rewrite the code to stop that from happening all the time. I guess I will be keeping my stool seat warm at the Einstein Bar and Grill today.

Have sent the usual messages to Eric and Jeff.
Quarter to 8AM in Bekeley.
Hopefully I catch one of them and they are able to restart things.

So, hopefully a fix shall be in soon.

. . And there's the rub, I have not had new work since 9pm last night (10am UTC), because according to the servers there are no tasks avaiable while others say they have full caches. It is very had to do work for a project that doesn't send you any work to do. I might just take a prolonged holiday and see if they can sort it all out. My power bill because of Seti was around $600 for the last quarter, and I am not going to pay that (or half of that) to have these machines sitting around idle :( ....

. . I find this all very frustrating :(

. . Toggling settings does not seem to work for me either. I still get no work. Personally, I think it seems to have all started when they upgraded the OS on some servers. The "broken switch" on the settings page seems to be one of the earlier symptoms reported. <sigh>

The PFB splitters appear to be working and producing again.
Best of luck getting work for a while as they attempt to fill depleted caches.

. . On that subject, E@H must have relaxed their dowload limits, they sent me 100 WUs at a time. But you sure were right about the app Version 1.18 compared to 1.17. It is very close to twice as fast, and I didn't have to register with Beta, it was upgraded in main.

Yes, the 1.18 app is about 500 seconds faster on average compared to 1.17. I too have noticed an increase in the number of tasks downloaded per request. Haven't seen 100 yet but I did see a bump from 20 or so previously to 40 or so the last time I asked for work. Einstein has no problems producing work on request for the most part. A lot more stable project compared to SETI. I am having serious thoughts about switching my priorities over to Einstein even though SETI was my first project and my main allegiance in the past. SETI is just taking too much time to personally manage lately.

I haven't had a MB app on my main cruncher in about 7 years. The venue is set for AP only, and does not accept work from other apps. You get that "your app_info does not contain.." red message when you request work, the type of work you requested is not available, but OTHER work is available. That red message is simply the scheduler saying "you asked me for A, there is none, but if you were able to accept work for B, I could have given you some of that instead." It's more of a "FYI" kind of message than anything.

So, the mysterious thing that takes the BOINC server down... has just taken the BOINC server down again. Last time it was most of Friday, so I suspect that now it'll be most of the coming night. We'll see. (Can always blame the guy who wanted to make a new account. ;-))
