Without seeing the entire file I would think the last line ...

</app_version><name>setiathome_v7</name>

Should be replaced with ....

</app_version>
<app>
<name>setiathome_v7</name>

in the beginning right before <name> you have <app>, but at the end you have <name> but no <app> before it.

of course i don't know anything

Actually, I found an issue, thanks to your suggestion. I hadn't copied the v8 info in full. I have I still have a syntax problem though. I have looked at the app_info carefully and I have gained at least a rudimentary idea of how it should be written ie: <name> vs </name> for example, beginning and end of command (I guess). I may not be getting GPU WUs because it isn't my turn or because I don't have my files configured correctly. No matter. I can wait for the updated installer and Lunatics.

Thank you though.

Haven't had much luck getting APs today either, and the run is now done. I never got more than 8 files at once throughout. If you check your log file and it tells you none are available, your config is probably not an issue.
i.e. something like:

2066 SETI@home 1/6/2016 6:24:58 PM Sending scheduler request: To fetch work.
2067 SETI@home 1/6/2016 6:24:58 PM Requesting new tasks for CPU and NVIDIA GPU
2068 SETI@home 1/6/2016 6:25:00 PM Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks
2069 SETI@home 1/6/2016 6:25:00 PM No tasks sent
2070 SETI@home 1/6/2016 6:25:00 PM No tasks are available for SETI@home v7
2071 SETI@home 1/6/2016 6:25:00 PM No tasks are available for AstroPulse v7
2072 SETI@home 1/6/2016 6:25:00 PM No tasks are available for SETI@home v8

Louis, what you want to look for is:

<tag> starts info
</tag> ends info

xml isn't that hard, but it is picky

for every <tag> you need a </tag>, before you have another <tag>

I'm not 100% certain on this but will try ....

<task>
... tell phone to call mother
<task>
... tell phone to call father
</task>

Call will go to father since it was the last task opened, first will be ignored (it was never ended)

It's basically like math, for every "(" you need a ")" IF you get them in the wrong place, things go wrong.

EDIT, if you want to message me your file, I will have a look and see if anything stands out.

I've been trying to understand why my RAC has been steadily decreasing over the last several weeks and I have noticed a pattern. Maybe old news to those in the project for more years than I but here is what I found.

I run majority of AP WUs, and checking the status of my tasks I noticed I had as many validation pending jobs as valid with no errors or invalids. Digging deeper into the cause of the pending tasks disclosed 'in progress' wingmen with a similar profile, that being many timed out tasks and last contact with SETI being in mid to late December.

Several of these wingmen had account established dates of late August thru early December 2015, and one had over 20 computers the majority of which had no contact since mid December.

My conclusion is these wingmen are students or faculty who have been on holiday for Christmas to New Years and are just now returning and turning their rigs back on. I believe the one with the multiple machines was probably an IT class with instructional rigs in a lab that are turned off over holiday.

Well that's a short story made long, hopefully all RACs will begin climbing as these results begin coming in.......BOINC'ING AWAY! ...........":D]

I finally received a v7 AP today, at least I know my configuration is up too snuff. Otherwise, v8 is loaded with WUs as well as BETA and I haven't generated any errors. That was my real concern. I would love to see my RAC get back to 52K, but I guess we'll have to wait on Berkley. I can't imagine the flak they are fighting through this transition. Best of luck to the Berkley crew. Godspeed.

Many thanks to Brent and Zalster for getting me back on track.

Well, AP's are being split again, but despite that, I've not been able to get a single one all day <sigh> Last time they were split I struggled to get some, even though there were 7 splitters running that time. I guess the gpu will have to stay idle a bit longer...

Just a notice to those RAC hunters who only wanting to do AP's.

After seeing what my main rig can do on its GPU's with AP's, after a data drive failure and reverting back to stock apps, I just might turn nasty when a new Lunatics installer is available and do AP's on both CPU and GPU (instead of just on my CPU's) just to deprive yous that whinge about not having enough of them even more (mainly because I'm sick of listening to those complaining about not getting enough of them). :-P

Cheers. :-D

Agreed! My RAC took a hit just as everyone else's has. No big deal. I am now running v7, v8 and BETA. I'm crunching for SETI, not me.

RAC? Who cares about that? I don't even know what mine is--I don't look at it nor keep up with it. I'm here for the science and the knowledge of the community.

If RAC and credits are all that matter to you.. why are you even here? There are other projects that shell out way more credits and RAC than this project does.

Just sayin'.

I fell into the RAC trap, admittedly. I was really trying to wring out all of the performance that I possibly could. No more, anyway, I can't afford to smoke anything... Let SETI and the developers do their thing.

Happy Crunching Folks!

The only thing I use the RAC for is determining the efficiency of my processing configuration. I don't like contributing 2.4Kw of power(4 rigs, 600watt PS each) unless I'm content it's being used in the most efficient manner. However, lately it's been impossible to get a baseline on my rigs due to the intermittent supply of AP 7 WUs and the current switch over to S@H v8. The old apples vs oranges story.

Fun fact.. you're probably not pulling 600 watts from each one. That's just a maximum output that the PS can do.

Like mine is a 750, but my UPS says that with the rig, LCD monitor, 24-port rackmount gigabit switch, cable modem, router, and 5-bay external enclosure.. I'm sitting at 290 watts. And that's while crunching on half of the cores. If I suspend crunching, it drops to 245 watts.

But still, I get your point.

12.16V X 99A = 1203W... I am pushing my PSU. A 1200W EVGA. This is the average with a full GPU load. It has been running like this for a few months now. I guess keeping the temps down is the only thing that saves it from smoking something.

Edit: Dropped some Amps after APs finished...a bit over 900W. Probably more realistic...

Lately, I've been concentrating on minimizing power draw for the crunching I've got. Only so much you can do, though.

Well, at least we got GPU work again, so we can start the long slow climb up Mt RAC again :)
Many thanks to all who got the Cuda apps out so well!
