, since updates are downloaded in the background and as far as I know can not be stopped.

In the Home version.
The Pro and Corporate versions allow updates to be set to notify or not to update.

Hi Mark,

They are scammers and have been trying it for years , its fun to " wind em up " and it don't take long for them to show themselves for what they really are, when they turn " nasty " and start trying to threaten me I. Tell em to " bring it on" . They always hang up end of

Well as soon as they phone me they get some ripe language that's blue enuff to warm the ears of the devil hisself:-)

I've recently had 1 call from the 'mumbled' service center:-) They dropped the line in sub 20 secs:-)

AFAIC a preemptive expletive blast always ruins their day.

Cheers,

Greetings,

My laptop has Win7 Home on it, so I assume it will get Win10 Home when it becomes available. This PC has Win7 Pro 64bit. I assume it will get Win 10 Pro 64bit when available. Are both assumptions correct, or will my Pro 64bit get Win10 Home as well because it is 'free'?

Keep on BOINCing...! :)

Hi Grant,

According to one review site W10 retail is on usb drive..

I'm wondering if going the upgrade route from pro[upgrade] to corp retail
might be a way to go.

Or if MS will make an iso image available for upgraders..

I'm still reluctant to allow the upgrade to go ahead on my crunchers..

Regards,
Cliff,

I had one call, so I had some fun with them, I asked twice whose customer service were they calling from, knowing full well that all the companies I deal with would not call on their own and that MS wouldn't call uninvited either, they soon hung up, I haven't had a call since then. LOL

I did read somewhere, that an ISO would be available in the 1st month. Not sure though.

Keep on BOINCing...! :)

From what I've seen on my systems after "reserving" my copies, I'm annoyed & still waiting for Microsoft to get back to me.

Systems running Win 7 Pro - Reserved copies Win 10 Home.

Greetings Sirius,

After reading your reply, I thought I would Google it to find out for sure. I found a contradictory answer at this location Probably should have Googled it to begin with but didn't think to. Let's hope what I found on CNET is correct. :)

One other thought that just came to me: They should just eliminate the 32bit OSs altogether, if they haven't done so already... ;)

Keep on BOINCing...! :)

I do have one question - Currently on my Win7 Pro (x64), I'm running BOINC 7.6.6 w/Lunatics. Is anyone running Win 10 Pro (x64) w/ NVIDIA driver greater than 347.88? If so did you have to do anything concerning the bool_2 situation and how did you solve it?

Siran - If you have win7 Pro now you will upgrade to win10 pro.

It's the latest beta client available. Primary developed to fix the blank stderr.txt invalids at Milky way and the truncated stderr.txt here at SETI.

Either edit the bool2 variable in the AP .cl file or get the r2887 drop box file link that was posted in other threads.

While I'm sure to upgrade my Surface 3 Tablet, my desktop will probably remain Win 7 for the foreseeable future. The feature loss through the upgrade isn't terrible, I simply don't wish to deal with them until MS works out the kinks.

I seem to have received an Intel CPU microcode update via Windows update on my Win7x64/sp1 main dev host. Am yet to look at the other near identical machine ( Core2Duo) that has Win10TP on it. Don't know which processor models that might be targeted at, but seems like it could well be ms and Intel working on the kindof kinks that come before a big release. Fortunately my ancient Core2Duo *seems* pretty rock solid (and quick) with it. Fingers crossed they don't turn on the bloat :D

I also have a machine like that. How did you get the update?

Just tonight, unexpectedly, via windows updates (critical IIRC), since I already applied all 17 patches from black tuesday. I'll dig out the kb# in a bit.

Ah, only optional: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/3064209

Don't see what CPUs it applies to yet.... other than the implicit all genuineIntel.

Ah, only optional: https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/kb/3064209

There seem to be a number of Windows 7 users complaining they can't boot after installing this one, so tread carefully.

Another gripe seems to be its getting offered to AMD-based machines as well.

mmm, yeah did look different and interesting, which is why I mentioned it. No problems here apparently. No boot after a microcode injection sounds like maybe some genuine failures, others OC'd to the hilt, and more running something with super secret stuff that took advantage of whatever wekness. It'll be interesting to see what comes out in the media.
