It seems a scammer called Me on My phone, yeah I'm on the Do Not Call List, the spiel went like this:

"Heather with your credit card company" Recorded message saying there is no problem with your card but I need to talk to you to keep from missing out on an opportunity to lower your credit card interest rate.

Being I use Virgin Mobile I thought others needed a heads up warning, since Virgin Mobile does not do Call Blocking, unless it's text and this call from 563-468-4041 wasn't text at all.

I'd tried *60 and that got no where, then I called Virgin Mobile and got in touch with Customer Service.

In any case I did not give out who I was or what My credit card info was, on this *scam* really low credit card offer *scam* that was made by the recording, I just hung up.

I've been getting "it is urgent to contact us" and "your credit card interest rate" calls every day for the past year, and they leave messages. These people buy the do not call list for phone numbers to call as it has the best prospects for their scam. Unfortunately when they place their voice over internet calls from the dark web, who knows where they are actually located. You simply have to learn to ignore them.

I have been getting that message for a long time and I am not sure it's a scam. It sound like they want to move your money to a new card. As I pay my card in full every month, my interest rate of zero. I have never enquired into the offer because they can't provide me with a lower interest rate.

Swiss Valley Farms is mentioned and at one point a rep from the Farms logs on and says they don't have a thing to do with this, this was said in the original link. This link also mentions scam and Swiss Valley Farms. I'd rather err on the side of caution and not call. People attempted to call back and found no one answered, if legitimate, they'd answer with either a recording or one of those 'press 1' for English type thing.

Even the FTC says something on this:

The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, says consumers who get these interest rate reduction robocalls should listen to them with extreme skepticism, and delete them. Many are scams.

The companies behind the sales pitches claim to have special relationships with credit card issuers. They guarantee that the reduced rates they offer will save you thousands of dollars in interest and finance charges, and will allow you to pay off your credit card debt three to five times faster. They claim that the lower interest rates are available for a limited time and that you need to act now. Some even use money-back guarantees as further enticement.

Amendments to the FTC's Telemarketing Sales Rule prohibit companies that sell relief services like these rate reduction scams on the phone from charging a fee before they settle or reduce your debt. If you do business with a debt relief company, you may be required to put money in a dedicated bank account, which will be administered by an independent third party. The account administrator may charge you a reasonable fee, and is responsible for transferring funds from your account to pay your creditors and the debt settlement company when settlements occur. See Settling Credit Card Debt.
Protect Yourself

The FTC says that if you’re looking to reduce the interest rate you’re paying on your credit card purchases, your best bet is to handle it yourself for free: call the customer service phone number on the back of your credit card and ask for a reduced rate. Be calm, patient and persistent. And if you are tempted by the promises in a rate reduction robocall, the FTC says hold off — and hang up.

* Don’t give out your credit card information. Once a scammer has your data, they can charge your credit card for their own purchases or sell the information to other scammers.
* Don’t share other personal financial or sensitive information like your bank account or Social Security numbers. Scam artists often ask for this information during an unsolicited sales pitch, and then use it to commit other frauds against you.
* Be skeptical of any unsolicited sales calls that are prerecorded, especially if your phone number is on the National Do Not Call Registry. You shouldn’t get recorded sales pitches unless you have specifically agreed to accept such calls, with a few exceptions.
* If your number is on the National Do Not Call Registry, a telemarketer may call you only if you have agreed to accept calls from the company the salesperson works for, if you have bought something from the company within the last 18 months, or if you have asked the company for information within the last three months.
* To report violations of the National Do Not Call Registry or to register your phone number, visit DoNotCall.gov
or call 1-888-382-1222.

Like the door to door sales people who enjoy ringing the door bell next to the NO SOLICITORS sign. Self selecting prospects.

Being Google; I assume that it is only for Android phones. My family is all on i-Phones... If this is available for i-Phone, let me know - I could use it.

I assume that ALL such calls are scams.

My phone has its own internal blocking function, so if I get calls from the same number more than two or three times, I'll put it on the list.

On the rare occasion that I actually answer a call from a number I don't know, and I get to a live person, I always ask them WHY they are violating the federal and state Do Not Call lists. Sometimes they just hang up on me, others politely tell me they will put me on their company's Do Not Call list.

My favorites are the ones offering to lower my Com Ed electric rates. I don't have Com Ed, I get my power from the City of Naperville and don't have the option to choose a different provider.

I haven't checked out any of the call blocking apps, but I would be wary of those too, as possible data miners.

I currently don't have the time, but do have few reports to make to the DO NOT CALL list. On my last report, I got a local spammer to stop calling. 10 grand fine is nothing to sneeze at for a small Business, but it stopped it calling us at work or at home. Yes Robo calls.

Also never reply by phone or e-mail to anyone saying they are from the IRS or your State Agency. None of these will contact you via e-mail or phone. LETTERS ONLY and no they will not haul you to jail immediatly if you don't pay up.

Also if you have an alert via phone don't respond to any messsages, "Your prepaid/debit card has been suspended". FRAUD, PLISHING ETC PP

Those phony IRS scammers are getting REALLY aggressive. We had a news report last week that after someone paid one of them, they called again and taunted him for his stupidity.
