Why would the notice be in only English on a Japanese mailbox.

Is it because the Japs are too sensible to need such a reminder?

My post was about the mailboxes, not the typhoon/hurricane warning, the picture was the one I wanted to display here, the sprayed on text was not. And yes there were US Marines stationed there as Chris S said, so the US Post Office was also there on the base.
