That I really can't do Chris cause of damage to My leg and ankle joints from an accident and yes surgery, so a diet of foods that I like that are low in fat and calories as possible is My only means of weight loss. Though not with fat free mayo, that uses vinegar... Thanks Annie, of course there is a pool here, but it hasn't been operated by the park in years, plus I don't know how to swim, so that's out. Or I can get up to walk to one of the bathrooms to comb My hair as there mirrors there, both are about 30' away from this desk, in either direction or to a window. A little west of Devon (I think) on the Dorset coast is a place called Lyme Regis. Fantastic cliffs and rock beds on the beaches full of massive (and small) ammonite fossils, belemnites etc. Wouldn't recommend swimming there, or fossil hunting on the beach unless you REALLY know the tides. Getting cut off is no laugh unless you're into climbing cliffs that might fall down on you. That's where my daughter shoved a chisel up her nose when she was two :) That must be where Alice(Allosaurus) lives, a real old fossil. ;) The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Saturday, I spent 4 hours working out with about a hundred of my closest friends. Learned a couple of new kicks, worked on perfecting a half dozen katas, and spent an hour throwing people around, and being thrown myself. Today, I went on another power walk. A bit less than 2 miles in 25 minutes. BOINC WIKI |

Wow John! Are you trying to lose weight, or is that just what you do to stay fit? I walked Maya on Sunday and again today. I am going to try and shoot for that magic minimum of 3 exercise sessions per week that was recommended by my personal trainer, Es99. Maya is about 70 years old in dog years, but she sets a brisk pace for an exercise-avoider such as myself. The route we typically take is a hilly loop of about a mile and a half. |

Wow John! Are you trying to lose weight, or is that just what you do to stay fit? Both of you would walk Me into the ground Angela, I'm not sure which would hurt first, the lower back or My ruined left ankle... The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Wow John! Are you trying to lose weight, or is that just what you do to stay fit? You would have to build up slowly to it. Also, make sure you use a walking stick for support and if you can get an elastic ankle support that would be good. Even a gentle walk for a few minutes around the outside of your house everyday would be good. Reality Internet Personality |

Wow John! Are you trying to lose weight, or is that just what you do to stay fit? The joint was ruined cause of surgery to install 3 titanium screws in My left leg, sometimes just standing will set off that ankle, so ankle support would most likely do nothing, I already use a cane, that doesn't help much, I'm 6'1" tall, have an extended abdomen that shifts My center of gravity and puts pressure on My spine. I'm regarded as severely disabled by the SSA, so I'm mostly a shut in due to a lack of income and nowhere to go, this will be this way until I'm 62 in 8 years, then I can file for Social Security to go along with My SSI benefits. I also have had OA(Osteoarthritis) since at least age 40... The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Wow John! Are you trying to lose weight, or is that just what you do to stay fit? I need to loose a little. When last measured, I was at 226, and I ought to be around 190 to 200. (however, none of it is going to come off of my legs which are already probably around 5% fat). My current goal is to get back to 210. BOINC WIKI |

Wow John! Are you trying to lose weight, or is that just what you do to stay fit? However, the more exercise you can do without aggravating your ankle, the better off you will be. Can you do crunches? (lie on your back, and use your abdomen muscles to pull your shoulders off the floor? If you can, start with a set of ten (or work up to a set of ten if you cannot do ten to start). Once you can do one set of ten, try for two sets of ten with couple of minutes of break between. Wow John! Are you trying to lose weight, or is that just what you do to stay fit? I tend to walk most people into the ground. My extra weight is mostly in a spare tire that I really need to get rid of. BOINC WIKI |

Wow John! Are you trying to lose weight, or is that just what you do to stay fit? I can barely do one now and getting down on My knees has been painful since that 1 year growth spurt that started when I was 11, I used to be able to do about 100 in 1 minute, that's partly why My abdomen is so big. That was from about 4.5' tall to almost 6' tall, yes it was painful. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Ok GF, I put my thinking cap on. First of, I think Eric will notice the less backing activity, namely the decadent chocolate cake. To rich for me. So put me down for how ever many Calories it has and convert it to weight loss. Pluto will always be a planet to me. Seti Ambassador Not to late to order an Anni Shirt |

Ulibelle, that is hilarious! Ok, an average frosted chocolate cake has 6078 calories, according to Calorie King. Divide this by 3500 calories and you get 1.736 lbs. I shall add your guess to the list of guesses. So far we have Ol' Pookers noticing weight loss at: Less than one pound - CeltTooth 1.74 lbs - Ulibelle 2.5 lbs - Vic 5 lbs - Chris S. 7 lbs - Anniet 10 lbs - Time Lord 14 lbs - Esme 35 lbs (...or in other words, NEVER!!!) - Monday And Wiggo's hilarious guess that Eric will think that SOMETHING has changed, but that he will not know exactly what... |

Saw the doctor today and got the results of the blood tests. Relatively good news was that I have type 2 diabeties and the level of bad things was in the low range and the immune system things were in the normal range. My insulin levels were also good. Doctor just said I'm too fat. Dont need any medication at this stage and he was very happy with me losing some weight already. He was also happy with the walking I've done. Ihave to go back in a month and see the diabetes educator and get put on a special program. Once again thank you Angela and every one for the help and support. It makes me so proud to be part of the Seti@home community. |

I'm not sure what type of program they have in mind for you, but having guidelines/rules to follow will help, I think. Hopefully you're feeling better overall since you started eating better and exercising. The mind is a weird and mysterious place |
