Phoenix gets that a lot, too. ("But it's a dry heat!!" - LOL) We have the same heat as Phoenix, but due to thunderstorms and swamp coolers the humidity does go up, from time to time. I don't know anything about the new guy yet; I haven't read anything, and I don't want to know until Matt Smith regenerates to the new guy... ;-) One of the things we were discussing is that if the producers hold true to the original format from the classic series is that with Peter, there is only ONE regeneration left in The Doctor's lives...
