Message 1330887 - Posted: 24 Jan 2013, 20:20:10 UTC

I have been having some technical problems with my computer and I haven't been able to crunch for quite some time now. Eric assures me that he will fix my computer this weekend. I have heard this same promise from him for many weekends in a row now. In his defense, Eric really is a very busy man and our weekends of late have been absolutely crazy, so I will continue to wait patiently.

I got a pm this morning from a friend with a RAC of 1 who was no longer able to post. I told him that I think you need a RAC of 2 to post. Does anyone know for sure?

How low can you go and still post?

How low can you go and still use the pm system?

How low have you gone?

I think its one, but....

Sorry to hear that your PC is not feeling very well :-(

However I'm amazed that you haven't set the raccoon posy on Eric to apply a little "gentle persuasion" of their own kind to get their human's computer fixed.

While you wait (im)patiently

Angela's machine got Catalyst 12.8 installed on it, since OpenCL is deprecated on XP from Catalyst 12.2 everytime Boinc checks for OpenCL support the computer restarts, downgrading didn't help,
Eric need to get a Successful install of Cat 12.1 on it.

There is a Catalyst uninstall tool now for removing ATI/AMD files, but it's for Win 7 only, i've asked for it to be expanded to Vista & XP.

Angela, if possible - maybe Eric could install a 2nd BOINC on his PC.
He use your EMail & PIN (or you give him only your weak account key ;-) for to attach SAH in the 2nd BOINC.
His PC crunch a few WUs for you and your RAC increase little bit.

.. just an idea.

I've always heard it was 1. 0.99 doesn't count. Even if it rounds up to 1, it doesn't count. It has to be >=1.00000000.

7.99 and falling...

Thank you all for the technical assistance and suggestions, but I honestly would not know where or how to start. I'm the kind of person who can make the office copy machine light up like a Christmas tree! When the secretaries in our office see me heading towards a machine of any type, they wince, cringe and hope that whatever machine I kill that day at least has a swift and painless death.

When it comes to tech stuff, I am shockingly untalented.

There must be someone willing to help, and a lot nearer than my umpteen thousand miles - we can't loose our raccoon lady through no fault of her own.

One of the AMD dev people has responded and passed it on to the appropriate people.

Angela a bit of "domestic blackmail" is required - you sit down to a superb meal, and serve Eric a plate of luke-warm beans on cold toast...

That might leave the house a little exposed to an invasion from the "small bandits" which might not be a good idea.

(Second thoughts, Angela might enjoy that, but I'm not too sure about Eric)

I hope not!

All rather underhand and dark.

Think positive instead? Use positive encouragement to positive effect?

All much more pleasant and positive!
