Lets hope this one does better than our last effort, Beagle 2. [Off-topic] I certainly stay out of Politics, the stench in there is overpowering. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

Well, I didn't know it was such a thread, since I do not read that section of the forum. I'm sure there are others who like me doesn't read every section of the forums.... I concur...There should be more moderation directed towards certain ranter on the forums that continuously clutters them with random semi-unintelligible speak about things that have little if anything to do with...well...anything of importance. At least this NASA Curiosity Rover project relates to space exploration and discovery, something relevant and worthy of a spot (or two) on these forums. |

Ive been waiting weeks for tonight. Now to find some of the links I posted in the past. In the other thread (which is not in politics, but rather in one of the science threads) #resist |

I can only hope NASAs latest rover/lander doesn't land with a splat... The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

agreed. I think this landing is somewhat tricky compared to what we've done in the past, and man is this craft heavy. But I'll follow along and hopefully we'll see a successful landing. :-) It'll be landing about 1:30am eastern time for me. I'll be awake for it. http://www.nasa.gov/multimedia/nasatv/index.html #resist |

Yea they've had a good run of crafts that live well past their original planned life, and go on to provide a wealth of other data. Here's hoping for the same for "curiosity". Cheers! #resist |

agreed. I think this landing is somewhat tricky compared to what we've done in the past, and man is this craft heavy. But I'll follow along and hopefully we'll see a successful landing. :-) If this one is heavy, then how in the heck do they think they'll land humans on Mars, let alone get them back to orbit? I'd have gone for a bigger lander where the lander was also the garage and the rover could just roll out and not be sky craned to the surface of Mars, which may not work. If this Fails, NASAs foes will say see Government can't do anything right, they'll want NASA defunded or Privatized entirely... The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

I was wondering how long it would be... Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

Nicely done Scarecrow. I would think that if this landing goes well, the nice folks at Nasa may want to name the next mars rover "Satisfaction". After all, if ``Curiosity`` killed the cat, "Satisfaction" might bring it back. |

This looks like a good web addy to use: jpl.nasa.gov It would be nice if more money could be spent on the space program. |

This looks like a good web addy to use: Yes, It would, but some think things like NASA should be cut, not enlarged and that's as much as I can say on that. Oh and that link is busy, from what I've read here, touch down should start tonight at 10:31pm PDT Sunday or 1:31am EDT Monday oh and that JPL site is super busy... There's also a live blog over at the Huffington Post, Here. An artist concept features NASA's Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity rover. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

And Nasa has a count-down clock ticking down the remaining time at the top of its main page. Right now it is less than 2 hours 30 minutes to go before touchdown of Mars Curiosity. Most thrilling stuff. I am staying up tonight in order to enjoy the expected show. Good luck, Nasa! |

Well...I twittered @Curiosity 'Happy Landings'. I really just hope that it does not land in a great big SPLATTER. |
