Could be worse, could be a lobster. What's wrong with Lobster? If it's the old debate about whether they feel pain then: A) Lobsters have no centralised nervous system, so all they do is react rather than feel, so no they don;t feel pain. B) Lobster is very tasty, so i don't care. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

Could be worse, could be a lobster. You can have mine, then, I never have cared for lobster, or crab. Sometimes shrimp or prawns are okay. I prefer regular fish with my steak and potatoes. Donald Infernal Optimist / Submariner, retired |

How do you feel about Ortolan, a traditional French dish where a bunting is force-fed millet seed, drowned in armagnac, lightly roasted and eaten whole. Officially banned in France but still widely available because we know what they think of rules. (Which in a way i admire) Not banned in Britain though. I urge everyone to try it at least once, it's fantastic! Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

Oysters aren't very nice anyway, far too much iodine to be tasty. And Foie Gras is hideously expensive for what's actually a fairly mediocre Paté. Those are my opinions, but unlike most animal rights compaigners, i accept that these are not sufficient reasons to call for an all-out ban, just because i don't like something. Many people do enjoy eating oysters and Fois Gras, and good luck to them. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

It is up to you, if it bugs you to eat a bug then you should not partake of them. Then, it is well known that plants have nervous systems. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ov5Jgw_Nwx4 |

Fruitarian i think is the only diet that doesn't involve killing another organism. But then that takes away the fruit from something else that could have eaten it, like a shrew or a bee, so it might indirectly cause the demise of another creature. But then think about the fate of all the millions of micro-organisms obliterated every time you take a step. Or the billions of bacteria slaughtered mercilessly when you brushed your teeth this morning. Where does one draw the line? Personally i look at animals from a 'them-or-me' perspective. And i'm the hungry one holding a frying pan. That puts me higher in the food chain. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

My beef (forgive the pun) with Halal is just that it takes half the flavour away. I've been to a halal chicken processing plant before and the chickens are stunned by an electric zapper before having their throats slit, so they're alive but not concious. It isn't quite as cruel as first appears. Life on earth is the global equivalent of not storing things in the fridge. |

I just don't like the fact lobsters are put alive in the cooking pot, could be that they don't feel any pain but still... Yeah that bothers Me too... The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |
