All BS aside....... You ever listen to the bass line on that one? It'll drive you right down lower Wacker Drive at 90 mph plus. Really......Dunn's expertise at driving a blues band was not overexpressed. Turn the high end off and just listen to his driving bass line. Double dare ya. repost.....Duck Dunn and the Blues Brothers.....Sweet Home Chicago.. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

As an ex amateur bass player myself, the bass line on that track is superb, I could never ever match that. I did use to like Quo's version of it in their own inimitable style, but this one just knocks that into a cocked hat! Here is a live version...... Not recorded as well, but Dunn is still present. Still Sweet.... "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

And I thank you for the heads up. I had not realized that the Status Quo had a version out there. You are right, not as much meat in the bass department, but..... It is worthy in it's own right, even without Dunn..LOL. Sweet Quo, Chicago. I am beginning to think that the song should have it's own sticky thread....LOL. There are sooooooooooo many wonderful versions that have been done. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

And homage must be paid here...... Robert Johnson did not live to see his 28th birthday. So sad. Such a bluesman he wuz. 19 hundred and tirty six. His version... "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Also...... Peter Green was another that passed waaaaaaaaay too soon. This wuz Fleetwood Mac before Stevie Nicks or Lindsay Buckingham. Ignore some of the nasty comments attached to the cut. I do not agree with where Nick Fleetwood and the boyz went exactly. But their commercial successes with their exes cannot be ignored. If you wish to take a musical trip, get some beer goggles on and you can be taken for quite a ride googling Fleetwood. Oh, and BTW, the book is a revealing read too. Excellent info on what went on back then. Doncha wanna? "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

And, my friends, allow me one more pass. This is tragic in it's own right for me. I was at that very last show. Stevie Ray God bless him Vaughan. I dunno why the Lord chose to take him from us that day, but I was at Alpine Valley hours before he was taken home. He had cleaned up, and I don't think he was ever happier than that day. The show was most excellent, the cast was just amazing. His brother was there too. So sad wuz I the next morning, I laid on the freaking floor unable to move for a couple of hours. The boss was ready to call the paramedics for me until I clarified my situation. Sweet Home Chicago was one of the last songs he ever played for me. Still Miss you, Stevie. I had not looked for a looooong time. In the years after his passing, I longed for some footage of that night. Now it seems that some have come forward with some most excellent clips. Thank you, all. I think this takes the cake. "Freedom is just Chaos, with better lighting." Alan Dean Foster |

Black bear, and the bottom of the feeders is about 5 feet off the ground, so the bear is taller than I am at 6'3". It just looks smaller in the clip. Steve Warning, addicted to SETI crunching! Crunching as a member of GPU Users Group. GPUUG Website |
