Just thought I'd share this picture with Angela & the gang.

It was taken yesterday (allegedly) during a lightning storm over San Fran - must have been an awesome storm! The Bay Bridge is being lit by no less than 8 (actually, do I count 9?) bolts of lightning at the same time. BANG!!!!

(Pic from Gizmodo)

Yep, 9 here, all from the ground up, glad I wasn't there, awesome pic though.

Yes, thank you Andy! It was a spectacular storm and I loved every thrilling minute of it!!! We tend not to get thunder and lightening storms out here due to our close proximity to so much cold water.

That very morning there was also another unusual weather occurrence. A tornado touched down not far from Uli-belle! It was a small twister and no one was hurt, but I heard that it took out somebody's shed and overturned a tractor.

After we heard that nobody was hurt in either event, my husband, the Wisconsin weather snot, said...

Eric: You know what we call lightening storms in the midwest?
Angela: What?
Eric: "Tuesday", and do you know what we call F-1 tornadoes in the midwest?
Angela: What?
Eric: "Did you hear something?"

I'd certainly lay a few bricks if driving along that bridge and that happened. Crikey.

Ang, I know that family, that got hit by the Tornado. The damage is worse than the news posted.

We had a severe weather warning for 3 pm yesterday. I had sunshine, but I think Donald got clobbered.

We had an unusual storm at home in the week too.
Nearly 3 hours of lightning & thunder, numerous power cuts caused by lightning strikes,
yet hardly any rain - the ground was only slightly damp at the end of it all.

We're back into Winter now too with regular frosts in the mornings.

Crazy weather, so unpredictable.

Yes, it is real British weather.
Yesterday was really murky to start, then brilliant sunshine and quite warm, then it went cold and we had rain, followed by a clear evening and a clear, cold night.

And this morning I could do with my sunglasses on in the office!

Back on subject - enjoying watching the birds nesting in the shrubs by my kitchen window - two pairs of blackbirds, and several pairs of house sparrows, that's good news, as I'm now excused from trimming the shrubbery back for a few more weeks, until all their little ones have fledged.

Uli, hope they are fully insured.

Even if you are fully insured, it can be painful. If the house is obliterated and your photos and papers scattered over 100 square miles it can be devastating.

After the April 3rd Tornado in Brandenburg, KY in 1974 papers and Mail were found in Canada.
It was 1/2 Mile Wide and I lost several Friends and one Friend lost his Mom.
I remember the saddest thing I saw was the owner of the Dairy out having to shoot Cattle whose legs were imbedded in the Ground.
It looked like an Atomic Bomb had gone off...Half of the Town was destroyed.

I think I know now why the relatives moved away from Nebraska all those years ago before I was born, of course Keystone South Dakota probably wasn't good either, possibly rocky soil in the black hills(gold mining was good though) I think and maybe more snow...

I contacted the Mother/Wife and told her that her family is in my thoughts. In California, you have to have at least basic coverage on the building. That would also apply to the trucks, which sustained some damage. The trailers I am not sure about, but they seems to be a total loss.

Here's a question for Angela. I saw a pic of hers, of a raccoon coming through a dog/cat door. I'm curious if this was a personal pic of one of her little masked friends, or just some random picture.

We had a severe weather warning for 3 pm yesterday. I had sunshine, but I think Donald got clobbered.

Saturday was not real bad, but Thursday night-Friday was - well, let's just say Bill Cosby's "Noah" routine or the Irish Rovers' "Unicorn" comes to mind.

Haven't had a real thunder/lightning storm around here for years, but we had 2 this week. Houses and trees hit by lightning, fire and police called in most of the off-duty staff to cover all the calls for service. No deaths or serious injuries, but several damaged house and burned trees. Also got hail in several places, and a couple funnel clouds were sighted but none touched down. Now we wait to see how bad the damage to the tree-fruit and nut crops will be.

A ponding basin/park near my home was within one foot of overflowing Friday night, the city had 3 pumps running to move water out of the basin and into the creek that passes by. This morning the level was only 3 feet from the top.

@Angela: Eric's comments sound a lot like my cousins from Manitowoc and Winneconne.

It has been widely reported that socialite Paris Hilton was attacked by her pet monkey, Baby Luv, as she shopped for bras at Agent Provocateur. Primate lovers reacted with curiosity and elation. Baby Luv's species became a topic of intense speculation. News reports described Baby Luv as part racoon, part monkey

Izzy had a really good weekend...her coughing is much lessened. She's also self-reduced her diet to half her regular food. The doc thinks it's good as she's 26 lbs and some weight loss would benefit her tremendously.
