Well, did you feed the raccoon you saw? If so, he or she will return.

No idea John

His Grandmother Trinidad was a Collie Terrier mix. The Collie part was prevalent in two of his siblings.

I ask because Corgi ears stand up like Latte's.

We had a Welsh corgi-collie cross (black and white) which we lost a good many years ago now. Jemma was 17 so she had a good innings.

Our entire apartment was invaded by the overpowering smell of skunk last night. One had been investigating the dumpster out the back when it got startled. It must have been right under the window because the place stank for hours. :(

I blamed the boyfriend at first before I realised that even he couldn't produce a smell so persistent and overpowering.

the skunk smell is very unique and overpowering..
If they spray it can linger quite a while..
If they move in to your foundation.. a VERY long while.

My Brother and I could smell that from almost a block away, I'd asked what that smell was and He said skunk, He'd lived a few Years in Goose Creek SC and I gather there are a few there. And yeah It's not a smell one would like.

And if one becomes flattened you can smell it for miles.

We have a skunk and a groundhog hanging around as pals in our neighborhood.

They've sprayed my little one, Abby, as well as one of the dogs at the back yard neighbor and my right-side neighbors dog too.

Animal Control said it's been a really bad year for them...

skunk 101
They are related to cats, and will often play and share with them.
They are not related to dogs, and will quickly defend themselves via Stinko
They are subject to Rabbies like most small animals. If you see a skunk coming towards you purposefully... RUN!!
They do not hurry much. They can get away from predators easily enough.
Some people have de-stinked them and kept them as pets. They are fairly intelligent.
They love snails, and will clear them from a garden in short order.
They are also fond of eggs, and apparently cat food.
And if they have babies under your house move out until they can be moved out.

Okay.. that is my extensive(?) experience with them. If you want a professional analysis.. go get one :D

Uh oh....
Would not be a pretty thing if there were reports of a Skunk/Raccoon cat food war.

Up here in the boreal forest, the smell of Skunk permeates everywhere. For country people the smell is part and parcel of the deep woods experience. It should also be noted that regardless of genetics, and animal relationships, bears and skunks do have a similar smell.

Skunks and raccoons eat cat food side by side quite peacefully in my backyard with great regularity. My skunks enjoy cat food, but they seem to prefer seeds and grapes.
