It needs to be super comfortable, and still that way after a 20 mile ride. My tolerance on my bike is about 20 - 25 miles, then I start to walk as if my backside is on fire and puckered up!

Have you tried it with a bike seat John? Maybe you wouldn't have that problem.

LOL

Yes. Without one the tolerance is about 2 feet, and that is before the reaming out!

My bike has a not too hard solid leather (non-padded) saddle. It is hard on the butt with the continuous leg action of pushing down on the pedals.

Cool bikes Magenta and Chris! Wish I did something about my bike, it stands there in the garage, totally rusty...shame on me, but it's so easy when you have a car. I remember, a few years ago when I couldn't afford a car at that moment, I always had to take the bike or go on foot to take the kids to school or go to the store for example...much healthier, that's for sure!

Hi gang...

@ Chris - I could never have a bicycle i didn't like the look of...so it is both a fashion statement, and a great bike. Your bike looks cool too!

@ Dan - the bike was actually reasonably priced due to two things. First, it was heavily discounted ($1699 down to $959) because it is a 2009 model. Second, we went to the shop quite by accident when they had 20% off store wide, even this sale item. So the bike was $767 with a kick stand thrown in.

@ John - my new bike has a solid leather "Brooks" seat, which is a little uncomfortable at the moment because it is new...however, the Brooks website says that they become more comfortable over time because it is leather. Time will tell.

The Bat got a new bike a few weeks ago, so we will ride to the bike shop today to get some fenders and a rear basket for shopping and my sparkly, super cool new bike will be complete :-)

fenders

You mean mudguards?

Yes. Quite right Chris...but since Electra bikes are American, I thought I should adopt their lingo ;-)

I am also hoping to work out how to justify having "Brooks" mudflaps (which would match my seat and grips) on new mudguards. Expensive, but lovely!

Daniel,
I can't even see the little numbers!

Magenta, I can't wait to see your new rear rack! Oh, and I bet the mudflaps will look great on the bike too!
