John was a pretty good old boy... had Brian Griffin from Family Guy as his avatar. IIRC, he was going to have to close down and sell off his computer biz a couple years ago.

You may remember that I posted this mystery photo in Angela's Critter Cafe:



The location is called Simon's Seat (overlooking Wharfedale and Bolton Abbey, in the Yorkshire Dales), Which of course brought to mind Simon Zadra, a great friend of SETI - best known in Number crunching for his work on optimisation, and for founding Lunatics.

He last posted here on 12 August 2007 - three years ago today - and then suddenly stopped posting and dropped out of sight, with no word of explanation. Some people claim to know the story but to be keeping quiet to respect his privacy, others say it's still a complete mystery.

This is not just a "claim"--This is entirely true. Some of us who were mods at the time it is not a mystery but we have to respect the confidentiality of the situation. Yes he is missed.
