I have read a couple of columnists that indicated that it looks like an ergonomic disaster. Too heavy to hold in one hand and operate with the other. Cannot be held with both hands and worked. If put into the lap would require a hunched over posture...

First Apple for me. Owned their stock at $9 a share back during the dark days when Jobs walked out of a CNBC interview.

Have to agree with Apple haters in this respect: Their ordering web pages are atrocious; along with web pages for checking/changing orders.

Frakking sad for a Co. with $40 Billion cash and a $200+ stock price.

Clicking around the Apple site in general also is horrible.

And nope, I ain't going to buy any Apple Store crappola.

Got the iPad because it is super light and I want to surf the web while watching TV and reading. Quick and easy info machine. That's all.

Tired of waiting for the other Big Boys to come out with something. Although like I mentioned before, I will get a WIN7 slate from another vendor later in year when they come out.

Basically the iPad doesn't have the power and functionality of the competitors.

I think it has attributes still to be discovered. Hold it above your head and you have a handy umbrella, and snow shovel which would have been useful to me not too long ago, and I bet it could double up as a TV dinner tray.

How can something be held with both hands and worked. The act of holding negates the use of hands for "working". For the iPad or anything in The Universe-ETs or ours. Maybe ET and WE can use our proboscis while "working it".

Also, I would love to see the posture of everyone now using a device(desktop, laptop, smartphone, tablet, iPad, etc.). Every posture, I'm sure, would be optimum.

Used for over 2 hours and is showing over 80%, I allege.

Stress testing continues. Bashing against the heads of haters and the unit is still "like new".

What it can't do and what it won't do is well documented and is continuing. Like most intelligent consumers, I bought it for what I can and will do with it and it will and can do it.

Sounds similar to geocaching; some people use their Nuvi's and TomTom's for finding the 'caches, but the battery life on those is like 2-4 hours (depending on the model), where a handheld GPS (like the ones I've owned, including my recent one) have an average battery life of about 14-18 hrs or more.

Apple has been working toward longer battery life for a long time. I have two laptops, one 4 years old and the other about 8 years old. Both will get about 6 hours on a charge with a good battery and if you are careful. On the other hand, if you turn the screen all the way bright, shove a DVD in the DVD player and crunch SETI at the same time you will find the batteries don't hold up that long.
Newer laptops have even better better battery life but they do that with a battery thats not removable. As the batteries seem to last between 4 to 6 years for me, the batteries could outlast the laptop for most users. Just make sure that you exercise the batteries properly to prevent early failure.

No, Mr. Freeze, it is not 3 times more impressive than I thought.

It does do what I bought it for. As a handy Almanac/Encyclopedia/Dictionary I can use while I watch a DVD movie, TV(during commercials), read, or during a conversation in need of substantiation.

The iStack 'em Library of Info is old and decrept beyond its former usefulness and an electronic reference is de riguer or something Frenchy like that.
