Was it out for a run earlier and came across this. Don’t know if it is real or just a kit-car, but it is kind of cool. Random Question: is it bad that I generally lug around 5 lb of camera gear when I go for a run. Hey, I never know what I am going to see! Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas. Random Question: is it bad that I generally lug around 5 lb of camera gear when I go for a run. Hey, you never know what I am going to see! LOL. But I am a marathoner by inclination. Trained to trim all the excess. Was just wondering if anyone konws: is this a real Lotus or a kit-car copy. Either way, it is very pretty. I believe, but am not quite certain, that it is a replica of a Lotus Type 7. The original had the ehaust pipes outside the frame with the mufflers, one per side) below the passenger door and drivers door (seems like a good way of scorching a leg). BOINC WIKI |

The gas tank is located in the passenger compartment between the driver and passneger. (Sorry, I didn't take a picture of that bit.) So my guess is that the original engineers were not terribly concented about safety! I didn't really take note of where the exhaust pipe ran on this one. I just assumed underneath somewhere. The original had the ehaust pipes outside the frame with the mufflers, one per side) below the passenger door and drivers door (seems like a good way of scorching a leg). Found some more pictures. Not all of them had the exhaust on the right side of the car. Which removes that from the list. However, I see a body pannel joint bethind the front wheel. I am trying to see if I can find that in any of the pictures I find. There is definately a kit car available. That is one of the sites I have found, but I have ignored the pictures on that site. Yup, John I agree... Lotus Super Seven Series IV to be exact, I believe (from the early '70's). **pardon me while I drool a moment.... There are a crudload of kit cars available for this model for sure, but I don't believe this is a kit car. AJ why do you think this is, and what make of kit would it be? Kenzie, thanks for sharing this! Team SETI.USA Forums Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known. ~~Carl Sagan |

Fit and finish does not look up to spec..... it is just a quick first impression, but I am sticking with it. BTW: I'm honoured to have my name mentioned in your first post ever !! |

Fit and finish does not look up to spec..... it is just a quick first impression, but I am sticking with it. If I could touch it I could tell better (and I SO want to touch it! LOL). Most "upgrade" kits seem to use exterior plywood skinned with aluminum sheet. If I remember correctly Lotus Seven S4 was fiberglass. The pic looks more fiberglass to me, but I could just be wishful thinking, heh. I'm gonna be dreaming of this vehicle tonight, I just know it. BTW: I'm honoured to have my name mentioned in your first post ever !! LOL The pleasure was all mine! I'm mostly a lurker, but I couldn't resist posting when I saw these pics. I'm a bit of a car freak... Team SETI.USA Forums Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known. ~~Carl Sagan |

Here's a link to a real Lotus. KAR 120C used in The Prisoner. KAR 120C However; this still does not help us decide whether or not Kenzie's picture is of a replica/kit car or the real thing. TimeLord04 Have TARDIS, will travel... Come along K-9! Join Calm Chaos |

Someone get a fly swatter or some Bug spray , as some kit cars for a while rolled around on a VW Bug(Beetle) chassis. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Where it is now, I haven’t a clue. But I am happy that it was enough to cause a 10 year cruncher to finally post. LOL. Personally, I want it to be real, but am hedging my bets, Damn, now I wish I had hung around until the owner showed up! \ [edit} I also have high rez versions of these photos. Won't cost you much. . .[/edit] Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas. Albert Einstein |

Kit kar. Look at the wheels. They are 4 lug VW type wheels. The Lotus used a 5 lug pattern. |

LOL and thank you for the welcome! Ok, since I am now required to post all the time I will try...as long as kenzie is now required to stand at Main and 20th until that vehicle returns so we can get a straight answer from the owner! ;) Team SETI.USA Forums Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known. ~~Carl Sagan |

Well, you are no longer a "lurker" and must now post all the time. Welcome. LOL. This location is on my regular run-route but about 3k from home. I promise to lug the camera along daily and if I see it again will snap many more photos for you to drool over. Pure mathematics is, in its way, the poetry of logical ideas. Albert Einstein |
