I just got this odd error message (copied below) on one of my dual processor machines that has been running SETI for several years. The current BOINC manager is 6.2.19 and has been running SETI Enhanced 6.03 since it was first released. Suddenly, scheduler appeared unhappy when the machine requested a new work unit. Any thoughts as to what is going on? 12/17/2008 1:06:54 PM|SETI@home|Sending scheduler request: Requested by user. I received the same error. Looks like Seti might be having issues. I'm getting that on all four computers that's doesn't have a Nvidia installed, well besides my early 8800 GTS that is not supported. Most have a Nvidia base motherboards. *shrugs* Tried updating and downgrading my BONIC versions. Is it a issue of the server think it's spitting out CUDA WU only and not recognizing machines that are CPU based only? Do to age, ATI cards or whatever? |

Just seen this on my Work PC tonight too. It was after I upgraded to the latest BOINC manager. Tried a delete / clean install too, but got same thing. It was working before I ran the upgrade DOH! |

It seem's loading AK 8 and AP 5.00 opp'd for SSE3 (AMD) combined package ... I've managed download 3 WUs. I just unzip it into my project folder and no error msg while getting work. http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=31810&nowrap=true#840125 I have no idea is this effect ver 6.05 app (latest and CUDA'd?) but the opp'd package is set to do 6.03. |

Just install the opti app or run the new CUDA tasks if your system is able, and you'll be able to recieve tasks. |

The error went away when I upgraded to the newly released 6.4.5 version of BOINC Manager. That version decided that I didn't need any work, so we'll see what happens when the queue runs lower. ensmail01@verizon.net |

But when I updated another computer with a larger word deficit that was also getting the error, it remained, so it appears BOINC Manager version independent. |

The SETI@Home enhanced app has been upgraded to 6.05 for Windows. Check the Apps page. Those running optimized apps might need to add in an entry in the app_info.xml file for 6.05 to download more work. |

Hello all, I just received that message too. I have an AMD 2.2 GHtz Quad-Core Phenom Processor with 3G of memory with Windows Vista with SP1. I'm using an ATI 3650HD video card with the most current drivers. I've been crunching this version of SETI since it started and haven't had any problems getting WUs as a matter of fact I have one in my cue and just turn in a completed WU. I hope this information is helpful in finding out what is causing the error. |

Download the latest AP and AK optimized app and toss them into the Seti work folder in my documents and setting/all users/bonic/project name (eh, if your on a Windows box). All I changed in the app_info.xml (from the Opt'd package) was the versions. <version_num>528</version_num> to <version_num>603</version_num> <version_num>603</version_num> to <version_num>605</version_num> So far it's only downloaded version MB 6.03 but it seems "ok" with the 6.05 on 4 computers of different types. No crashes but I lost some WU while tweaking the app.xml (remember to backup the folder before hand). I don't know if they fixed the "SETI@home Enhanced is not available for your type of computer" error yet. |

Problem has resolved itself on all computers as of about 5:14PM Eastern Time. It was not working on or about 5:05 Eastern Time. I changed nothing, just forced an update, and suddenly it was downloading Seti 6.03 (not 6.05) and AstroPulse 5.00. I noticed this on my Vista Business computer and within minutes did the same to the Server 2003 and the Server 2008 box. Everything is working now. But I did not get Seti 6.05. None of these computers has a CUDA capable video card. My home computer does, and I will check when I get home if it is getting the 6.05 client so that I can use my 8500GT for some additional crunching. I am hoping I can run 2 CPU based tasks as well as a CUDA task for Seti. I am currently running a GPUGRID CUDA task in addition to 2 CPU Seti tasks. |
