My main play computer is named Princess after my Sheltie. Seems now and then people call their computers by name and it seems some people have some interesting names. Seems Marks are named after Gilligans Island people...

I originally named my computers very generically by what they were, such as my main system is simply Xeon5130, or by who owned the machine or what function it served such as Donna, Michele or Family Computer.

Only recently did I decide to name them after Transformer characters, but now I want to change that to MOTU-based names. Ahhh, decisions, decisions.

My main desktop is named Astarte after the goddess of Sex and War, as a pagan myself it seemed a logical choice.
This laptop is called Isis, similar reasoning.

Main Computer (Laptop): Gatekeeper. Named after the belief of someone or something standing and protecting a threshold or gateway between two things.

Others:
Aurora, Latin word for dawn, the goddess of dawn in Roman mythology.
Defiance, randomly picked as a name for the computer.
IvyGarden (my fiancee's laptop).
FIT..... (network name for the uni computer assigned to me).

Never surrender and never give up. In the darkest hour there is always hope.

My main machine is named THOR. It's a P4 3.0Ghz w/Hyper-Thread... because at time I got it it was one big bad machine and could run SETI at least 20 times faster than the old Pentium-II 200Mhz it replaced shortly there after.

Desktops: Sir Killalot, AMD Sempron, mandrivalinux '08
Dead Metal, AMD Athlon, mandrake linux pro 2006
Fission Chips, the old-skool box, P1, Windows 98
Laptops: Sergeant Bash, Pentium dual core Windows Vista :(
Shunt, P4, windows XP
Hypnodisc, a baby Libretto! P1, windows 98, rock solid
and two EEEPCs both running Xandros Linux (ASUS version, duhh)

haven't named the EEEs yet. They get out and about a bit and don't crunch all the time. But generally - as you may gather, I don't dump computers, I make 'em crunch. Even if it takes them 6 weeks to run a SETI unit.

all named after 'characters' from UK Robot Wars - mostly because Sir K. the boss lives in a misleadingly hardcore gaming case with fans'n'lights and looks just like the said robot.

needs an upgrade though. actually runs like a dog - but don't tell him I said so :)

Mine are all appropriately named for what they are, slave computers. They do nothing but crunch, 24/7, so they are named setislave, setislave2, up to setislave9. The secondary crunchers are the laptop (Laptop), my work PC (GBGW), and my Mac (hicktown.local). The only ones not being used are slave2 and slave5, as they are awaiting brain transplants (to quads after the summer, making 9 PCs, 36 cores total).
