The east coast guys are talking about rain for five more days ... and out west we are having forest fires again. The water is falling in the wrong place!

I live in Illinois...If i could find a way i would send you some of our rain.

OFF TO LA someone may need to give HIM that Gas Mask.... I really do hope you are enjoying the trip Andy and didn't lose your shirt or the farm while in Vegas... Try not to breathe to much of that LA smog at least there are windmills on top of the mountains in an attempt to "blow it off" (they claim it is for ALTERNATIVE energy, it has been going on there for YEARS I haven't been to CA since late 94 it was covered in them at that time in places. Hard to believe it has been so long ago, I guess I need to plan me a trip too...

Morning all :)

The LA smog is more like the air of the UK actually. I've been stunned by how clean the air is everywhere I have visited here so far.

Evening all.

A quick "win" from Palm Springs. Stopped off at Calico Ghost Town on the way here from Vegas, was a good day out.

It was 112F (44.5C) here today - and is still 97F (36C) now at 10:30pm.
Off to a cooler L.A. tomorrow for a few days.

Are you enjoying yourself Andy?

You bet! I am having an amazing time!

I'll write more / post some pics when I am back to the UK.

I even have a UFO story to tell - a sighting confirmed by the 2 people I am traveling with and 3 people unknown to us.

Good morning all, and a good Sunday to you all.

Tell Andy he will be coming back to sunshine and showers, with temperatures of 15C to 22C (59F to 72F). Much cooler than the 90F to 112F he is getting used to.

I just looked at the week ahead for my area. The day I get back is supposed to be a high of 17C & rain :( That's going to suck! At least we'll be in L.A. before coming home to the UK and L.A. is MUCH cooler than here in Palm Springs.

We're off to a Zoo in a while, right after breakfast :)

Looks like a potential problem getting fuel when I get back to the UK too?

That may be true, Andy.

The Times carried an article saying the worst affected area was the West Country. It relates to the numbers of grockles and the normal population all wanting road fuel.

The other shock will be the rise in the price of fuel since you left for the States.

I know you mentioned your fuel (diesel?) was more expensive that we were paying by about 5 p per litre. Our diesel is now 1.289 per litre.

But does anyone ever REALLY get used to 112 F?

Interested to hear about the UFO sighting Andy had...and WHERE

Regardless, getttng my Sunday WIN, Happy Father's Day to all of you dads out there (I am even counting the parents of the kitties or other furry creatures..They do rely on someone to take care of them and some are actually just as needy)
