Think I'll build something this weekend with at 45nm quad core.... if the sales are good.
(frys, microcenter, etc.) I have a new corsair power supply with no home. Anybody comment on
a good micro ATX case/mobo combo? (BTW mac pro dual quad rocks!!!)

As soon as I get home from this 24/7 job, I am going to throw together another AMD 9850 system. Parts should be there by the time I get there. K9A2 Platinum MoBo, 4GB OCZ Reaper 1066.

I'de like a QUAD QUAD-CORE system, since such MoBo's aren't easy available, tried to draw one myself.
I use to make the drawings off printed circuits boards (C.A.D. program).
But the program is still calculating and don't think it's going to finish, without (too much)error's!

This is really complicated, siggghhhhhh . . .

Have it draw it out, so you can put it on a 4x8 sheet of plywood. - Larger is better? How difficult would it be to set up a 4 board box? - 4 CPU's, 4 Sets of RAM, probably 4 PSU's, probably need 4 HDD, what about video? I guess they already have blade systems........

If you can get one made I don't think you'd have too hard a time selling them on here (to the die-hard crunchers). Heck i'd even settle for a dual Q6600 if I could find one...

Building 2 new Q9300 systems this weekend. Should allow me to retire a few of the older systems I have.

During late 2009 the launch of the V8 and V16 Nehalem Xeons using the, then, new 32nM fabrications should be available to the market. To make it even better, with their 12+ Mb of L2 cache, they should also support an updated version of hyperthreading.

I want to specify and build a [b]dual V16 Xeon system with HT on each core[b]. This should give me 32 active cores, and the equivalent of 32 ghost HT cores.

It will use the Intel version of hypertransport (no Northbridge or FSB), so the cores can all be fed well and there is no data bandwidth restrictions. It would also make use of about 16Mb of DDR3 RAM.

Cost an arm and leg, but it should shift the WUs, and the RAC (when settled) should be stupendous. Not sure what the power demand will look like though!

The plan is this can give me the excuse to retire my dual P3 with RAID-1.
It's good to be back amongst friends and colleagues

I'm soon going to build a Q9300 system with a mixture of used parts & a few new ones:

1. Q9300 Quad core cpu,
2. ASUS P5K DELUXE/WIFI-AP LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel chipset,
3. Corsair 2GB (1GBx2) pc2-8500 DDR2 memory(reused from PC1, PC1 gets 4GB of Corsair Dominator PC2-8500 ram),
4. Thermaltake M9 VI1000BWS w/Window No PS Black Mid Tower Case,
(I'm just thinking about the case as I have a good green chenming matrix tower that I could use instead and I already have all the other parts needed).
5. Kingwin RVT-12025 w/a Thermalright bolt thru kit & a 120x38mm Delta fan(129-150cfm),

Existing parts:
6. MSI NX6200TC 16x PCI Express Video Card w/128MB ram,
7. OCZ 700w EPS12v Power Supply,
8. Spire SP-Soundpad foam insulation,
9. WD 36GB Raptor,
10. Lite-On SHD-16P1S Black DVD/CD drive,
11. 1-Delta 103cfm 120x38mm fan(exhaust fan),
12. 1-Vantec Tornado 84cfm 80mm fan in the door
13. Vantec Nexus 5.25"(Silver) fan controller.

I'm pretty interested in the soon-to-be-released Intel D945GCLF motherboard.

They're due out next month.

i'll have to wait til the 4th quarter to actually build anything new.
finances are shot.

Hey, sorry about your wife I sure hope everything went well. At least you won't have to worry about me catching you anytime soon. Just found out my machines in California including the Q6600 can only run while my store is open. The people I lease from Turning the breakers off at 6 PM and told us to shut everything down till fall...
