I guess that's the one "John Galt" donated... nice that it's up to the task.

Who is John Galt?

I think that they're more than up to the task, to the point that the SAH infrastructure has to catch up with the volume. According to the hardware donations page, there isn't even a viable NITPKR machine yet (needs 8 cores.)

I'll be updating that when I catch up with Eric in the next few days. I believe we now have such a machine

See how easy that was ...

This too was promised YEARS ago ...

Deliver on a promise, and *I*, for one, will donate ...

For reasons I shall not go into here ... this was just a small donation, but, this is ALL I have ever asked for ... delivery on promises ...

Deliver Astropulse, and I am sure I can scrape another donation together ...

I have been sorta letting this run... I see in my absence some have decided it is a fair playground for other things.

There are some questions that some would like answers to I will attempt to provide some of those.

The goal for the 2008 year was $476000, It can be viewed in the Budget. My bad is not everyone looks at the budget. it has been posted every year.

The basic thing in that budget which has and keeps Seti Alive is the "Operations" portion of the budget($268,200), that pays wages, electricity and network connectivity. Over the last two years we have been able to pay for the operations budget. My own personal observations with what has been raised and the efforts of "volunteers" a couple of other things have happened. The MultiBeam Antenna, Seti Enhanced, Seti MultiBeam, a few server and other misc hardware pieces/upgrades (Users, Thank You All)

No, I do not have the accounting that is handled by UCB for how the money is actually divvied up for each line item. That is part of the small percentage that UCB pulls for each donation. That is a complex issue between a couple of departments and really is not appropriate here.

I guess the Bottom line is that in spite of lack of funds which causes finding time to do what you are not paid to do is to get things accomplished. Two things that people are interested in is the Analysis of the Data and Astropulse.

Well NTPCKR is alive and growing. Astropulse in in Seti Beta

Information about NTPCKR:
I guess the most important evidence is the change to the Seti Science page, as was stated by Matt in this post First Signs of the NTPCkr. I have posted what information I could in Near Time Persistency Checker (NTPCKR)

Information about Astropulse:
Astropulse is moving out of an alpha stage into a Beta Stage... Meaning that "broad testing" and fewer undefined crashes happen. Discussion can be viewed at Seti Beta in the Message boards : AstroPulse. I have to say there there a few individuals that believe in Seti enough to take the time and not really expect the instant gratification of "credit" to help over the years. That Group of People who some of you see are active "Testers" for Seti Beta. Sometimes it is intense and sometimes slow. What they have Accomplished has deliver Seti Enhanced, Seti MultiBeam; soon Seti 6.xx and Astropulse. There are less than 2000 active testers that have accomplished this!

476,000 -106,000 = 370,000 shortfall?

Is this correct?

Sorry, I am still not following where we are ... and how far we have to go (still, I know it may seem I am being obtuse for no reason, but, I am truly not following the money trail here) ...

The tone of my prior message aside, my point as raised in the past, is that I have long heard promises and Astropulse my memory tells me moved into beta once in the past. That aside, my long voiced complaint is that the data goes in and nothing comes out ... so, a promise was delivered upon however incompletely (thank you none the less) and so I will live up to *MY* promise, and I have ...

So, thank you guys for allowing us to see the data ... and here is hoping that things continue to improve ...

Paul et al

I have been working on how to frame the response(and busy with many things). $127566.34 has been raised to date. That is roughly 28% of the $476000 goal (over the twelve months of the budget period).
Is there a shortfall?
At the moment until the donation drive ends, it is that we have not found ways to reach the goal. But it brings up the question when is success or failure presumed.
Last year, there was a shortfall. However enough was raised that it covered the Operations side of the Budget. The doors stayed open, there were fewer things accomplished than desired. I guess the positive aspect was that MultiBeam got to all the crunchers (somehow). Seti is still alive.

For Astropulse you will have to go look at the progress. It is just about out of the Alpha stage and ready to start the Beta stage. For those that are curious the conversation can be seen at Astropulse Message Board

NTPCKR has been started and running... I and everyone looks forward to see what that will tell us.

Regards

Al
