I use Safari 3 on the Mac, and also on the PC whenever I use that... but really, I am a Mac user most of the time.

I guess I'm one of the 'odd-bods' here.

I've always used Opera..

.Works from Win3.1 to Vista, Linux, Mac and as a cut down on my mobile phone and my Palm devices. (Versions are both native and platform independant(-ish.. ie: Java.))

I wonder if there is a psychological profile that relates browsers, operating systems, favourite applications and the machines we use to the kind of personality we have?

Just for fun what sort of personality would you attribute to the major Web Browser users?

Internet Explorer =?
FireFox =?
Opera =?
etc?....

@Scarecrow,

What does "Grabber" mean?

I use Firefox on my PC and Mac 99% of the time.

Some features on my ISPs site (Bigpond)only work with IE.
Microsoft Downloads only work with IE (funny about that hey?)

Even though MicroSoft, had a lot off trouble, because off knocking out the competition, for 'including' their I.E.5./6./7.x browser's, in the 'O.S. itself'!!!
So that it will be difficult to most people to install another browser.

That's a stupid TRICK , it's forcing something, no one wants. The want to CHOOSE !?!?

I use IE and Firefox, often both at the same time, since I can have each set up to go through a different proxy server, for various reasons. It gives me some flexibility, but otherwise a browser is a browser. So long as I know how to use it, it doesn't bother me which is better or not.

@Scarecrow,
What does "Grabber" mean?

That would be a program like wget, for example, that can be used to download everything there is to 'grab' from a website without any browser involved. wget is an incredibly useful program but is often misused just to harvest files (html, images, etc) from a site. A lot of bots use this sort of scheme quite often for less than ethical purposes.

Wait up a bit, Mike! I read on one of the nerd magazines that it's full of glitches and prone to a lot of crashes. ;]

I would be using Firefox except there is one feature that I cannot seem to figure out how to change. Whenever you use a link to a new page, and then the back button the re-loaded page is always at the top of the page instead of the scroll position where I left it. In my opinion, this one problem makes FF pretty much unusable.

I've always found firefox to b a fisher price browser, probably just a personal thing. Being a Mac head use Safari when ever I can, however will stick to IE on PC as Safari is still to crap to use on a Windows machine.

My FF remembers where it was, with the exception of THIS site.

Oh, and I use Firefox.

I have downloaded stuff from MS through FF, you just have to use the Netscape genuine advantage tool (I think thats the name) to prove to MS your Windows is legit. Windows/MS Update only works through IE though.

Ok, this site and all other BOINC sites. Which seems to be where I spend most of my browsing time. Still, until it is fixed, I will pass on FF.

I've never had a problem with this, but maybe I've just been lucky.

Firefox used to return you to the top of the page when you hit the back button after following a link...Used to drive me crazy...But i've tried it several times now...and it remembers where i was every time.

Here's a link that may help explain the "always back to the top" behavior in Mozilla/Firefox...

Scroll position on web pages not remembered
