Hi Albert!

I'm tired right now. I'm even too tired to make supper.

I guess I'll have to shift myself soon, though. Heh.

Did you have a good day?

.

My day was pretty good. It has been a long day and I might go to bed early tonight, but I am not sure as some of my favorite shows are on tonight :) How about you? Have you had a good day?

Not bad, not bad. I may be getting myself in one heck of a wild piece of litigation, I haven't decided yet.

We've got only 5 major banks in Canada, and they are much disliked ever since they closed down many local bank branches and started charging fees for every transaction they process.

Anyway, my bank screwed up. They eliminated almost all of the existing fee packages and replaced them with new packages starting May 1st. The result is, that on most common accounts, like chequing accounts, the fees have gone up a whopping 80% in this one shot alone. Reading my contract closely, there's a clause that says they're intitled to change fees on 30 days notice. But nothing specifically says they're entitled to eliminate the orginal service packages that people opened when they opened their accounts (for which there's a contract for each acoount).

So I smell a class action lawsuit, as well as huge punitive damages. I also briefed myself on all the complaint procedures need to arbitrate this all the way up to the Superintendent of Financial Institutions, that's the government body that oversees our banks.

I know I've got them over a barrel, but do I want to be the one to bring them down? Maybe.

.

It sounds as though you and the banks just can't seem to get along lately :)

Maybe. They misled me (accidently, I hope, although they did speak to their legal department) by giving me the wrong advice on pursuing a complaint right to the top. They had a branch executive deal with me, but not the manager. I have to complain to the branch manager first. I researched it and found out that this is the necessary procedure. So I have an appointment with him tomorrow, and I'll make my formal complaint to him then. :]]

Good luck!

Oh, I'm not expecting anything from him. But by merely making my complaint to him, I'm completing the first step necessary to meet the Superintendant of Financial Institution's requirements. :]]

I'm famous at IBM over catching them in a contract mistake, now it looks like I'm about to make myself a name at one of our country's largest banks.

And they told me that retirement is a time for peace, quiet and relaxation. LOL

It sounds like you have a talent for these things :)

Hello Everyone,

PROLOGUE: OK, I'm sorta' the gaming and relaxed, fun loving type of person....
A few months back I bought a PSP for my enjoyment.... and I loved it 'till yesterday....

STORY: Yesterday I parked my car in a old carpark and went to my local IT store for a few minutes.... I had left my PSP in the car the day before, and I forgot it was in the car..... So I went into the shop and came out... walked for a few minutes back to my car.... and my side window was smashed.... I first at thought... "Ahhhh... just a minor annoyance" (Because I never leave anything valuable in my car) I checked everything.... and nothing was stolen just the window smashed....
I drove home... went around the house doing chores.... and then I looked for my PSP... It was nowhere.... I then remembered I had left it in the car... I went back to my car.... and it wasn't there.....

It had been stolen!..... And It is not insured because it is not over the $500 excess fee..... Ahhh geez....

So now everything is out of kilter.... I got the window fixed this morning (which thankfully was covered)

But now I gotta go out and buy a PSP again.... lets spend another $500.....

LONG STORY SHORT: Always remember and watch out for your valuables!!!
(I'll be buying a new PSP in a few weeks)

Have a good day, everyone.
Luke.

Awww Man, my heart goes out to you Luke!!!

Maybe you should report this to the police? A lot of these thieves head straight for the pawnshops and the police can recover your PSP for you. I'm sure that somewhere in the shipping box or manual there's an identifying number of some kind.

I hear you on your need for a plumber, too. Here in the Maritimes we're being advised to stock up on a weeks worth of food, water, medicine and the like because we're getting massive rainfalls and flooding coming up.

There are just these times in life when we've got to hang on. So Hang in there, my good friend, this too will pass.

I'll say a prayer for you, Luke!

GOD BLESS!!!

LOL

I love the artwork in this one. :]] The guy reminds me of this tourist I met in Hawaii with a massively large Hawaiian shirt, a Panama hat, and 20 cameras dangling from his neck. As he passed by my table, he whispered out the side of his mouth, "D'you suppose I look like a tourist?"

The guy in your cartoon, he looks like he could say, "Do you think I look like a Couch Potato?" :]]

Good Morning Dear Friends!!!

Well, I went and saw the bank manager yesterday, we had an hour-long meet.

I've got to admit that he charmed me! He made me feel like a truly valued customer, he regretted my frustration with the hike, he showed me how their internal "escalation" system of reporting problems works, answered all my questions courteously and well. I believe him that I'm on the worst end of the fee spectrum; he showed me that they even waive fees for poor people.

So I've decided I'm not going to sue my bank. They really are too good a bank for me to lose over protracted litigation. I'll also spare myself the intense gruelling longime effort of battling a major corporation for several years. I will be continuing my complaint through their "Ombudsman" office (it's really just a higher level of Customer Care). I can also cut the hit on my fees by reducing my three accounts down to one, but I wont do that until the ombudsman makes a decision.

Huge rains and big flooding is coming...and I had to go and sell my yacht! AAARGH! Let's just call it a "Bad Noah Season".

Hiya Beets! Thanks for being so kind.

The police here aren't bothered when someone breaks into your car....
Also I doubt they'll resell it once they figure it only had 10 minutes of battery life left and to access my pics, vids and music they have to enter a 4 digit security code....
Its useless to them...... lol..... I get the last laugh.....

Beets, In your country, do you have a TV programme that helps ordinary people take on big corporations (e.g. A company doesn't finish a roofing job, person complains to the TV show, and company pays up because they have been highlighted as a bad company through TV?

In New Zealand we do, its called "Fair Go". Really good programme.

Have a good day (Its raining right now - Time: 8:40 AM Thursday May 1 2008)

Hey Luke!!!

Why don't you be your own detective? Take down the registration number of your Playstation. Go to the pawnshops and make like a potential buyer, ask to see all the PSPs they have for sale. Check the registration numbers. If you find your machine call the cops from there, saying it's been stolen and you found it at Spooky Pawn Shop. Would they come right away? That's one reason it's worth reporting to the police anyways.

No we don't have such a show in Canada (our richest 100 familites own 53% of all the assets in Canada). But the local TV news stations in the United States, many of them have something like this. :]]

Good luck for everybody with rain today!

@Beets, I'll think about going down to "Cash Converters" sometime tomorrow, see if I can stalk out some PSP's...
I've just had the plumber around.... ah geez... the figure is in the one thousands....
The whole driveway has to be redone.... only because the local council don't have the pipe maps for my house!

Geez, that figure suprised me....
100 richest families own 53% of the assets!!????
It just goes to show how corrupted this world is sometimes....

How's life going for you, Dr. C.E.T.I?

I'm carrying on at the bank, but I'm doing it in a peaceful way. They have "excalated" it, and I'm going to email the 'Ombudsman's' office. :]]

Like I said, I like this bank and don't want to sue them. They already call me "Mr." :]]

That's a touch innacurate, I should've said 53% of the assets that aren't owned by the 5 Big banks (they own a huge chunk of the country's assets too). Yeah Canada is 'owned' by a very small circle of families, it's been for a long time, since before WWII at least.

I wouldn't exactly call it 'corruption' though; it's just a matter of hugely rich concentrated in a very few families. They keep mighty quiet in our country, the very wealthy do. You hardly ever hear of them, unless you're invited to one of their events.
