The provided link is to the free to air TV guide for central Victoria, Australia.

Free to air

So post the TV guide for your area so I can see if it's only here that TV is crap or all over.

hello Graeme!

although I don't watch the "local" channel much (I'm either tuned into CNN or National Geographic channel) -- here's today's television schedule:

http://www.tv3.no/index.php?option=com_azpress&channel=tv3

TV3 is one of the biggest/most popular channels in Norway - they show Seinfeld! this pleases me greatly, and I watch it frequently...

edit: at this very moment, I'm watching PM Gordon Brown live - discussing UK security plan

that would have worked if you hadn't stopped me

I just got rid of my $149 monthly cable fees and went with Basic ($31). I find there's not much difference, really.

I just watched this new New Orleans cop show on Fox network called "K-ville". It was disappointing really, compared to the old, gritty HBO offerings like "The Shield", "The Wire", "Deadwood" and so forth. It's too bad that HBO is such a bust this year. :[

Pretty much crap all round in the UK as well.

http://www.onthebox.com/

Well m8 at least you've got a good selection of channels.
Have a look at what's on after midnight here. "Infomercials" otherwise known as ads, and lots of raving American religious nuts trying to convince you that God will be happy if you send them money.

Yeah, it all looks pretty crappy to me.
Time to rise up and start a revolution. :)

But not this one. I only watch one show on TV and that is Extreme Makeover Home Edition on Sunday night. Everything else is crap as far as I'm concerned.

Usually while eating I watch primarily just the following: Univisión, the primary US channel in Spanish, the local and world news, and "Lawrence Welk", the "champagne music" bandleader who died in 1992. His shows were popular in the US between 1955 and 1982 and now educational TV channels play his historic shows. The last fifteen minutes of the one-hour presentations feature an interview of one of his musicians. Of course many of his musicians have already passed on. I don't know how much of "Lawrence Welk" has penetrated countries other than the United States. Of course what I watch is just a tiny fraction of what's available on cable TV in the US.

Finnish (free) tv channels:
YLE TV1, YLE TV2, MTV3, Nelonen, Subtv
FST5, JIM, Urheilukanava, The Voice, YLE Extra, YLE Teema
Finnish (not free) tv channels:
MTV3 MAX, Subtv Leffa, MTV3 Fakta, Subtv Juniori

There are about 30 digital tv channels on air here in Finland! Don't you all think that it is a quite a large number of channels in a country with only 5 000 000 people?

As you can see, there are lots of American tv shows in Finland. They usually have titles translated to Finnish, e.g. "Prison Break" = "Pako", "Quantum Leap" = "Aikahyppy", "The Simpsons" = "Simpsonit".
