Message 568336 - Posted: 16 May 2007, 6:49:51 UTC - in response to Message 568191.

Is there a way to send the results? I don't care about the credits, but some of the results will expire tomorrow.

It's the same here, I am getting new units to process but have 9 to report and just can't make contact with the server that receives the data.

It's a shame there isn't a smilie for pulling your hair out in frustration. ;)

I'm sure there is one somewhere. If not, I'm equally as sure that someone here will make one.

No, seriously, even it's very frustrating and even I can have my moments of irritation about not being able to upload, we need keep cool.

Please remember, it's not ill-will from the admins, they are doing the best they can to solve this. But Murphy seems to have the days of his own these days in Berkeley. :-(

Keep up the good work.

Depends how you open the pages. There have been reports that:

If you open the pages using the buttons in the BOINC manager,
and you're using BOINC v5.8.15 or BOINC v5.8.16
and your default browser in Windows is Internet Explorer 6

then you get two browser windows open. It's an irritation, but not a show-stopper: and no, it's not related to the upload problems - those earlier reports date back about two months ago.

Hi everbody,

Like all of us, we have a lot of problems to upload.
I mean only one !!! Impossible to upload.
I have about 1,000 units to report !!!

I hope the " deadline " will be reported because there are already about
250 too late !!!

But the most important, nobody from the Seti team answer about it !!!
Of course they have other problems to solve, but a new post about it will be welcome !!!

If you would just read the last weeks postings before you complain, maybe it would help your frustrations.

Do you want them to report every hour, or do you want them to spend what precious little time they have working on the problem? Knowing that they are working on it should be good enough, and have faith that they will solve the problem eventually. You'll know they did their job when it is working again.

It would be interesting though to know how now overdue WU's will be treated in respect of being counted as within time or not. It is also a question of whether to abort pending uploads to decrease my own network traffic due to connect attempts to nonresponding server. I'm inclined to flush results and not bother with SETI anymore.

I wanted to say:
That i was wondering when the expiration date will be prolonged! I have a few packages that are due to expire at 17-05-07!
Why doesn't Seti ignore this expiration date for a few weeks? Just to catch up.

That everybody is doing a good job and that hurrying won't bring us much, because the universe will be here for a loooong time, E.T will have to wait a few weeks longer.

Other programms will have more computer time since seti's outage. (Einstein is really giving a lot of credit per package).

Please fix that bug where nice posts are being lost due to that mysql error about to many connections!! That one is really evil!

It was already stated that the validators are turned off, meaning that late results will not be late and can still be turned in.

Also, if you want to help decrease the load, you can always suspend SETI for a week or so until this all blows over.

You can do as you feel you must. It's my opinion that "not bothering" with SETI anymore all because they're having a few problems in a science experiment that they never claimed they'd have 100% uptime to begin with is a little rash.
