Looks like I belong here, congrats and best regards to all that donate their idle cycles to BOINC and to all in the 8 year club. I really hope that one day we find something that all can share, a fellow family in this huge void of space that exists between our little blue planet and the beyond. What a day that will be. Keep crunching. best to all. |

passed my 8 year date a couple weeks ago (29 Jun 1999), and finally got results again. (mac v5.18 was not working on a mac mini) I have to thank all the seti people that keep this running! SMR |

Time does go fast. It doesn't seem like it has been 8 years. Wish I could remember the email address of the first account that I registered with sometime during the summer of '99. It was an .edu with a long sub.domain that got changed (shortened) shortly after registering. They changed the email domain, but in their wisdom didn't alias the old long domain so email would be automatically forwarded. And, in my wisdom, I never changed the email address on the SETI classic database (was that possible?) before forgetting it. All my old classic credit is tied to that forgotten email address. Oh well. ...but, I can still get a '99 date because I also registered with a .mil address in the fall of '99. However, my .mil hardly did any classic SETI work because of someone else's wisdom: a "feel good" energy conservation plan that was implemented calling for all the Windoze machines to be turned off at the end of every day. Power cycling is not only not the best thing for hardware, but that stroke of genius undermined all the automated Windoze maintenance scheduled for the middle of the nights. |

I refuse to believe that it has been 8 years. The Universe is not only stranger than you imagine, it's stranger than you can imagine. SETI@home classic workunits 1,405 CPU time 57,318 hours |
