Fuzzy Here is a link to the preferred list of machines as I identified ages ago. As Matt and Crew are what is termed a "Sun Shop" we go to Sun Sun Educational/Research hardware This gives everyone a chance to look and you do have to scroll down the page to find the Sunfire v40z machines. IF we look at the list and then prices it could be considered a bit of sticker shock... So if we look at Matt's Wish List and what each and everyone of us can do to help, then there is a chance that "We" can do something postive... As a request from Pappa from here I'll spawn this thread before the usual 300 posts, because the terms for donations have changed since the first two threads. Maybe we could have Matt provide a bit more specific info... R/ Al Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

I would reply to your reply, but! Is it Friday Yet? I Only One more "Monday" left this week... I hate weeks with 5 Mondays in a row... I know about chasing "Servers" for specific purposes... So I did not remove anything and then quoted "around" your most "Welcomed Post"... I truely believe that "We" can help reach the needs of Seti... So it could prove to be that Seti BOINC, is no longer the "Poster Child for a Cause." Many New Projects have "funding" and "new hardware," Thanks to the efforts and "patience" of "we" the Seti Crunchers have moved there development way ahead... Saving them Thou$ands$ in developement costs. "Our Collective" efforts from September to 1 January have helped to raise $11,975 for the project... Yes Your September Donation Thread was the Banner... I would ask each of You to Consider that as we are here, that a small donation to help move Seti BOINC out of the dark ages be considered. The Donation Page asks for a minimum of $10.00 US. Many of us waste that on un-useful things... If the over a quarter million of "us seti users" could give just $10.00 US then where would things be? Yes I can think of a lot of places that that same $10.00 would be abused... Thank You for your Time and Consideration.. Al aka Pappa Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

From your statement, I figure that you never vote, don't have a savings account, and never walk distances over 25 steps... "Are you suggesting coconuts migrate?" |

"donating is fun" Been taking lessons from Public Radio and Television? 8-) (My local radio station is in a windup to a membership drive next week, I don't think they've tried this tack before... but would I remember if they did?) Got a raise last week and overtime too, sent a bit to the Matt L. Server Fund before I could get used to it. MJ |

As Of Today 28 people for a Total of $1172.00 have Donated. That is one fifth of the way to a new v40 Server. Please take time to consider a small donation... If someone can find the 3 people that donated $10030.00 back in March of 2004 that would help a BUNCH! Thank You Regards/ Al Please consider a Donation to the Seti Project. |

This is from BoincStats: Total.................Active Users 372,859 189,121 Hosts 757,693 342,162 Teams 35,146 21,696 Countries 223 211 Total Credit 4,448,981,904 Average floating point operations per second 185,232.1 GigaFLOPs / 185.232 TeraFLOPS So, if every user donated 10 bucks it would be $3,728,590, if only active users then $1,891,210. I would hope they'd be able to upgrade some gear. lol |

I moved my text From my post in the cafe. It might get the active users to be more vocal to their friends about the project. I have. ;-] "THINK. (Just an opinion “ Opinions are like as*****s everybody has one and most of them stinkâ€Â) |8-0 The people who developed this project (APPLAUSE) and those of us who participate(scattered applause)have had a unique experience. If nothing else, we who post in these boards have shown the world a few things. We come from all walks of life. We have demonstrated that (AS THE PROJECT WAS INTENDED) grid computing is effective as an alterative to even 1 “supercomputerâ€Â. For the most part we have proved / shown that we can as a global community can have and desire peaceful interaction. In these boards we have made real friends / enemies either by accident or design. And still we “work†together. AMAZING. I hope this can be an infective force in our 24/7world." I Desire Peace and Justice, Jim Scott (Mod-Ret.) |
