Check out the new dude teef on this list at place 70!, OMG we have another NEZ on our tale..

I'm just curious , is there a way to cheat or can they possibly return 200000 credits a day??

I've struggled to get 1,5 million for a year now and they can deliver that in a week!!!

What do you think, for real or cheaters??

Kind Regards Vyper

I don't think cheating is possible with boinc.
I guess we'll see more of this happen when the top classic crunchers switch over to boinc.

It never helps in these cases that the person always seems to have their Computers Hidden. If we could see that he has 600+ 3Ghz+ machines attached no one would question his high RAC.

But I am sure that the Berkeley bods can see his PC's.....

Wow, S/He has a butt load of machines.

Things look okay from this end, I'll look them over again tonight.

I would speculate that users such as Nez and Teef must be two very large groups of people working under 2 user accounts. There must be several hundred computers in each account! Perhaps they were teams in Classic and now they registered as an individual user here sharing the user ID. I can't imagine one person having access to that number of computers. Just my opinion.

only for Info

My Athlon64 3.200+ has an rac from 199,59 and this is running 24/7 Hours a Day

when you have an rac of 296.046,84

296.046 divide to 199 = 1487 Athlon64

and when you calculate that they dont have all Comps with the newst Hardwarwe

1487 x 2 = 2974 Computers are running

so they have a really great Farm of Computers running BOINC

i have also a Friend which is working at the German Telecom, Farm is greater than 5.000 computers, but it is not allowed th run BOINC....

so lucky when you have such a good Friend and he has the rights to do this

Greetings from Germany NRW
Ulli

Hi Ulli,

you forgot time factor. For example, my enterprise has about 1,600 comps running, but only 38 h/wk, gives an equivalent of about 360 comps running 24/7.

A little digging reveals that teef is running a huge farm of Opteron 252s (around 1000 of them I think), Linux, BOINC 4.43, standard SETI client for at least the first few days of this run but may have used one of Ned Slider's optimized clients since then. It is some kind of test situation where he has a large number of computers available for a few days/weeks, similar to the Sun guy. He did this back earlier in the year, then again now, who knows if/when he'll be able to do it again. This run is over? Almost over? Whatever, it's all legit, and he got more credit in a day than most of us will get in years...

yes your are right the time factor my fault

when this Farm is only running 12 Hours a Day

1487 x 2 x 2 = 5948 Computers are running

that are a lot of Comps...

As I said earlier, NEZ was a SETI Classic account with some 9M CPU hours giving them world rank of 17.

As for large numbers of computers, the World number 2 Classic (was No 1) user 'The Ministry Of Serendipity' is believed to be a backup data centre for a large bank or similar, with what must be around a 1,000 systems. 'Sneezy' is even larger...

Until the Turks and Czechs came along these were the two largest outfits world-wide. Both UK <g> and members of the Worlds Finest Team - OverclockersUK.<G>

Hi!

Even when these people are cheating, they must have invested a huge amount of time
and work, just to generate a large number of faked WU's.
All they get from this is a faked, and therefore useless, high ranking.

I don't get it....

I don't get it either. You can't have pride in something that deep inside, you know is false! Does not make sense.

I am NOT trying to start anything here but....I am in charge of over 1200 computers at work. Theoretically I could put Seti/Boinc on each of them and then run them 24/7. I would NOT do this, it is a business and I LIKE my job!!!
But some of us do have a few we can play with now and then. BTW ALL the ones on my account are machines that are at my home and ARE NOT used for ANY type of work. They are all personal computers. Nice ones, but personal ones.

I did run seti classic on about two dozen computers at work several years ago,
after getting permittance to do so.

Nowadays, with P4 CPUs, I wouldn't bother because of the rise in power consumption
and the thermal issues this would provoke.

Indeed, 100% legitimate, we're burning in a group of machines. seti is a close estimate of our application which is not yet finished. We're particularly interested in heat and early life failures hence the seti run currently.

Once our real application is complete it's likely we'll have no spare cycles.
