I think it needed a "femme de menage" like me to clean up the cafe, but unfortunately when a thread is full of images, cartoons and multicolors signatures and bizarre avatars, my old and poor computer is unable to uploading, then my entry becomes impossible, so sorry for that .

You can load images as links, turn off sigs and turn off avatars, in your prefrences, which will speed up the loading.... >:-) (-:<

Yeah, my computer is fine, faster than most, lots o' memory, cable modem, et cetera. But I still disabled my .sig graphics.

Oh Siran, with avatars and signatures, really i can't help myself,"c'est plus fort que moi".Avatars and signatures are the identity and personality of each member, i'm unable turning off mine and yours, i have a weackness for them, even if it costs to me to enter hardly in a thread or not at all.

99.99% (if not 100%) of "april 3, 1999" dates are faulty. During one of the classic to boinc migrations the signup dates got screwed up.

No. IIRC, the rocket scientists that started this thing as SETI@Home did not allow you to change your password from what they assigned. In my case, when I shut down my previous email account because we were moving, they assured me that I would have 30 days to use it before it was closed completely.

In reality, that 30 days was about 30 seconds, and alas, I could not find the password after the move. So, since I cannot access the old email, I cannot get my password, therefore I cannot link this BOINC account to my old SETI@Home account.

This sillyness caused (and often continues to cause) an uproar with people who feel jilted. So, at one point, during the transfer a whole swarm of people were switched to that date. My actual date of joining SETI@Home was June 25, 1999, and BOINC was the middle of March sometime this year.

well it seems safe enough to post in here today...the wars down below seem silly when seen from this perch...better to stay up here than go down there.
