Will the UCB "experts" insure that before this happens that all available BOINC projects not only support the new major version, but support the change of major versions in the middle of a WU? The move from 4.19 caused a major upchuck for me on CP WU's. Right now I'm running a sulfer unit that won't finish for some time (2 months), and I'd realy hate to see an upchuck now! (it's 40% done) I also remember when boinc moved from 3.x to 4.x and that was not pretty! |

I upgraded to 5, and the work units for the projects that don't support version 5 finished fine, uploaded fine, but didn't get any more work. Perfect. Thread closed. I suggest nobody else respond, lest you feed the troll. ----- |

I upgraded to 5, and the work units for the projects that don't support version 5 finished fine, uploaded fine, but didn't get any more work. Perfect. Hey Matt, how's it hangin'? I upgraded to v5.2.1 yesterday and it's working just fine for me. As a matter of fact, it's downloading more WUs for me than v4.45 was doing. I'm waiting for the account management feature to become available. Oh, I just noticed that you said this thread was closed. Scuze me for posting.... >:-) (-:< CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. Running 5.2.1, CPDN work unit 18% finished. Transitioned without a hitch. Happily crunching along. Hi, everyone! If you think education is expensive, try ignorance. |

Good to see everyone. It looks we've resolved this issue without succumbing to the wiles of our favorite troll. It looks like the "experts" did just fine! Now let's celebrate. ----- |

I'm doing just great. The weather here has finally cooled down to where it's comfortable for me, mid 60s and below. So far v5.2.1 has been working just fine. I like it.... Ooops, that's "cheerleading", sorry.... >:-) (-:< CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? "What a piece of junk!" - L. I'm glad to see that the pom-pom squad responded... It seems it's time for the people who have a clue to respond! Dr. Dave? Seems this might be a time that you can lower your pride to the point where you'll talk to your serfs! No need to have a Vulkin want-a-be like Siran or a manchild want-a-be like MattDavis to speak for you! When BOINC releases 5.x.y, will it work with all boinc projects, even with WU's that are "in progress". Seems to me it's not a bad question for the people at UCB incharge of Boinc. Some little fleas seem to want to attack the messanger, but it's clear that they can't respond to the message! |

Whaaaa, whaaaa, whaaaa.... What do you expect? It's obvious to us that you're not running v5.2.1 and yet you whine about your expectations of it. Upgrade and see for yourself, don't whine, whine, whine as usual.... .o0(Me thinks his diaper needs changing....) >:-) (-:< CAPT Siran d'Vel'nahr - L L & P _\\// Winders 11 OS? I'm glad to see that the pom-pom squad responded... Oh I'm hardly a cheerleader, but speaking from personal experience, 5.2.1 on 7 machines with no problems at all. You will be assimilated...bunghole! |

Will the UCB "experts" insure that before this happens that all available BOINC projects not only support the new major version, but support the change of major versions in the middle of a WU? You mean "ensure"? I certainly don't think they'll be insuring anything, it's also not up to the UCB experts to force anyone into supporting the new version. I suspect you are actually running a "Sulphur" unit as well, "Really" has two L's, and upchuck isn't actually a real word, but I'll let that one slide. Since you are such an expert Woody, we're still waiting for information on this miraculous distributed computing project that you developed yourself. Seems to me it's not a bad question for the people at UCB incharge of Boinc. "incharge"? Oh, I guess the space bar is broken. "Boinc" - hmm... shift key, too... BOINC projects tend to stress your computer, applying more load than simply running the idle process. If you are having difficulty with BOINC projects, it is a good idea to check your computer and operating system for any problems, before doing anything else. In this case, it is obvious that your keyboard has a possible hardware fault; your messages to these boards simply are not intelligible. |
