"As we know, "Band of Brothers" scribe Erik Jendresen has done a deal with Paramount to write an eleventh Star Trek film which for the first time in history which will feature a whole new cast to be introduced on the big screen."

So this would be the sequel's sequel's sequel's sequel's sequel's sequel's sequel's sequel's sequel's sequel's sequel, right?

Am I right when I say I think more Trekkies/Trekkers/Trekors would've preferred that money go into ST:E?

I am finding this somewhat hard to believe that "Star Trek XI" will even be considered Star Trek. Especially by die-hard Star Trek fans such as myself.

The writer is quoted, in the article, as saying that the movie will NOT be a sequel of Enterprise. This, I believe to be true since he also says that it [the movie] will take place "160 odd years" before the birth of Kirk. Kirk was born in 2233, March 22.

2233 - 160 = year 2073

The timeline shows that Enterprise first launched in 2151.

2151 - 2073 = 78 years

Warp 2 hadn't even been realized by 2073. It would take forever and 9 years to get 20 lightyears, let alone anywhere interesting. Zephram Cochrane hadn't perfected warp 2 until 2090. There was no subspace radio, so communication back to Earth, or anywhere else, would be next to impossible.

No. I would not consider this movie Star Trek.

"160 odd years before Kirk"? That's 1913!

Either way, your logic is sound (And proves you've earned your pointy ears, to boot!)

1913???

I believe your calculator may be broken, NA. >:-( )-:<

Mine calculates that: the year 2233 - 160 yrs = the year 2073

1913 = 320 yrs prior to Kirk's birth. That's much > "160 odd years". I would deduce that "160 odd years" would be anywhere between 160 and 170 years. What do you think? >:-) (-:<

Humor ;-)
160 odd years plus 160 even years is 320 years.

;-)Quite literal and a humerous play on words.
Count back from the starting date 160 odd numbered years.

Yea, the maths puts this film Pre Warp drive so its a prequel prequel!

Still, it could be good, 2001 and 2010 were both great (and different) films set within our solar system. Especially if it can capture that grittier feeling that early space travel will surely be like. I think Enterprise missed a trick there as it was just too nice to be true.

If the film is released tis one I am sure to go and see.

I wonder if the story line will include Khan and the Botany Bay. They were mentioned on Enterprise as past events.
