Hi Mad Mac! It's easy to do But I actully find it Annoying to see
my info plastered every time I see your sig. If you want to add it to your
forum sigs, Go to your account/ forum preferences at the bottom you'll see
your B.S. Sig Paste Link there. I emailed it to you copy the whole line...

Another one that wants to display MY information. What the hell is the point? I already know what my IP address is, what browser I use and who my ISP is. I DON'T need some NOOB to throw it in my face everytime I see a post from him/her. >:-(

You don't need to turn off sigs to get rid of that crap. Just block the danasoft site with your firewall or just his D.A. little sig with this info : http://www.danasoft.com/sig/WeirdWizard.jpg

98SE XP2500+ @ 2.1 GHz Boinc v5.8.8

And God said"Let there be light."But then the program crashed because he was trying to access the 'light' property of a NULL universe pointer.

I have turned of the danasoft sign, it was another person who had this when they sign in and I thought it was o.k. So people do not like it so I have turned it off. I am going to leave it for a couple of days and see what people think. Should they be telling us what we can or cannot do with our sigs.

I have turned of the danasoft sign,

Thanks for turning it off. I don't think someone telling you what you can and can't do is the issue. Personally I found it just annoying. Not being an expert, when I first saw it a few months ago, I thought that my security had been compromised and spent a while checking it all out (maybe not a bad thing). Then it was just annoying until I learnt how to block it. So I learnt a lot from it but IT was still bloody annoying.

BOINC-Wiki-Thanks Paul

Madmac, Don't let other users stop you from doing what you want to do. If you want that in your sig then put it in. However, If you're looking for votes then I'd vote NO to the sig. Like others say, it's annoying and provides no useful info to anyone.

On the DanaSoft site, where you got it, it says

The signature image is generated in real-time for each user that views it. Your IP address and other information are only visible to YOU, not to others, but because people see their own IP address and computer information displayed in the graphic, they think that their information can be seen by everyone!(My emphasizing through size!)

It is considered rude and a breach of netiquette to do something that makes people feel uncomfortable, because they think their security has been violated! It's like pointing a replica gun to people, yes, I know it's a dummy, but I don't like being pointed at with such! And those, who don't know it's a dummy, will feel very alarmed!

For me it feels like looking into a mirror, because I know my own IP adress and information, so think of it like having a conversation with a person, who holds a mirror up in front of you, so you can see yourself all the time! Very annoying! But I don't care as I usually have sigs turned off, I turned it on to see what people were talking about here in this thread!

Nobody is telling you what you can or cannot do with your sigs! You might get some comments on it/them, that's all.

You can go to this site, where you can create sigs to all the projects, you are participating in. I did myself, and you can see the sig, I want to display, here in my posts, assuming you have sigs turned on! I chosed to display only an all-in-one sig, where others chose to display the sigs related to the project, and others chose to display all their sigs! The latter is the reason why I have sigs turned off! ;-)

Have fun with your sig! :-)

I blocked that site a long time ago in Mozilla. It would say I was using Netscape 5 anyway. ;)

Thank you.

I like to see the signatures. But, there are some that are a little, um, enthusiastic. Yours was one. I did not feel threatened, I just thought less of you...

Others want to have large, blinking, garish, signatures; but it does not reflect on me if that is what they, or you, want to do. It reflects badly on them, and you, if you choose to do those things.

If you want to be taken seriously, you have to present yourself well. "Loud", garish, flashing lights and signes usually means I don't read what you are writing because my old tired eyes can't filter that stuff that well ...

So, I vote for it to be off ... but, if that is how you want to present yourself ... go ahead ...

You know, your right! But! Why should I detract from my message board enjoyment because some NOOB discovered he could display others information. No! I won't! And besides, WHAT IS THE POINT? There IS none. He/she will see their info only. I don't need to ALWAYS see mine. I know mine. If he/she cannot remember who their ISP is, they've got no business being online. If they cannot remember what browser they're using, they should NOT be using a computer. I suggest that if people want to see their info THAT badly, whenever they are online, they should create a website and put the banner there. Then they can see it all they want, without irritating people here. And yes, it irritates me....

And with a little creative proxy/firewall magic, it says I'm at 0.0.0.0 and am using an Atari 800 browser.... but, by God, it got my ISP right! :) Of course I had to unblock it temporarily to see if it still worked.

do whatever you want. doesn't matter to me, i disabled signatures. if i really wanted to know what everyone's stats were, i'd just look slightly to the left under their avatar

plus pages load faster and are much easier to read this way.

Now THAT I can accept. I don't mind reading quotes, I rather like them. Such as mine, in my sig....
