Message 127317 - Posted: 24 Jun 2005, 13:14:46 UTC - in response to Message 127312.

This is a sad day for any individual that owns property as what essentially has happened is that you no longer own your property per say. It's at the mercy of your local government as to if they feel they can do a better job developing your property than you can. If the local government thinks they can get more tax revenue out of your property by taking it and giving it to someone else, your out.

Sad, yes I agree, this decsision by the Supreme Court sucks. What right does any local gov have to someones land for profit. I wonder, does this also apply to property owned by the very wealthy? Don't think so.

You didn't know? Part of the American DREAM is to own property so that the gov't can take it away from you. But then, that would be more like a nightmare.... >:-)

Apparently with this ruling that's true. It sounds un-American to me -- out of sync with the ideals of the Founders. It's been awhile since I was back in the states, but I presume economic growth means shopping malls.

Eminent domain backed

The final episode of Little House on the Prairie comes to mind here.. Then again I live in the South where the Rights of Eminent Domain will be backed up by our 2nd Amendment Rights and not some Judge in Washington.

I'd rather speak my mind because it hurts too much to bite my tongue.

Remember the mantra: Freedom and Democracy, Freedom and Democracy, Freedom and Democracy, Freedom and Democracy, Freedom and Democracy, Freedom and Democracy..................the conservative court has spoken.

Dr. Paul Goebels would have been proud.

Seems they can't lie with impunity anymore.

Their party can't say Americans support their policies or their desire for empire without a majority of Americans rising up to repudiate those claims.

Yes, a recursive must be appropriate in this case! to you, if you can pull it off!

The only thing against this, is that the key figure doesn't have a clue! He's too [explicit] stupid! But take it as a practise in recursive functions! :-D

Your explicits, are they still for use, BTW???

a very brief look back......
-------------------------------------

What does it take to get a Fatwah against Bush?

He gets killed in the name of Jihad, but dies in the name of his Crusade
- Seems like a fair trade to me.
.

I always found it ironic
that we're supposed to bring Democracy to Kabul and Baghdad,
and yet we have Florida to thank for showing our inability to deliver it. [Democracy].

When it comes to accuracy, Fahrenheit 9/11 is... ...beyond scrutiny.
I suggest you watch it...

Without the US presence, the UN could have succeeded.

.......because all I see for my generation is the red ink left by your generation.

You and the illustrious party you dare defend have not only shortchanged
today's pill-popping baby-boomers turned-Senior-Citizens,
but sacrified tomorrow's wallet in the name of instant gratification that is "Security"

Above all, in the name of those who will inherit this fiasco,
I demand an explanation for why you insist upon the sacrifice
of tommorrow's well-beingfor today's illusion of security.

Victory by fiat of W is failure worth propagandizing.

9/11 and Iraq have no common thread.

Iraq was an inevitable scapegoat.

I don't need Evangelicals leading the leader by the nose,
I don't need laws that allow the military to start recruiting high-schoolers,
and I certainly don't need to have to be labeled a terrorist for speaking my mind!

I want my leaders to take responsibility when their actions fail.....

Now that I've had my coffee, and I've begun to digest last night,
I've decided that I'll have no choice left but to leave this country within the next three years.
I'll give the outcome nine months worth of patience,
but I really think this will have been the last election
I participate in on American soil for the foreseeable future...

The only real option is to get rid of Bush....

...the President of the United States is responsible for everything that happens on his watch.

I have to hand it to Bush, he got rid of Saddam,
and now there are more terrorists in Iraq than he ever dreamed possible
and growing everyday.

How do you measure success? Body counts? Increased Haliburton profits?
Are we more secure now?
Will the rest of the world feel sorry for us
if we get hit again after Bush has alienated most of our allies,
and those that went along wish they never had?
How about the the market manipulation of oil? The weaker dollar.
A national debt that your grandchildred will be paying off.

Bush shouts from the roof tops about democracy in Iraq
when his party and government doesn't really have a clue what it means.

.

My government sucks!

George Bush is the worlds puppet master and he sucks!......

.

The price of freedom is eternal vigilance,
and once those in power are allowed to do whatever they wish,
the power will no longer rest in the hands and conscience of Man.

.
Bush will continue as he has but with perhaps some concessions to the fairly close popular vote.

So what? Keep making your views known, in posts like these,
in letters to the editor, in calls to your elected representatives.
Keep discussing national and world events..........
.

Shame to zealots, regardless of their faith, who deny the liberties of others.

(all 'old news'..... all 'rose-colored' hindsight....... ......though, the smell is not of roses.)

Most of the time by the responses by other posters and/or the content of the post itself. Plus it saves the time of loading up pictures posted a week ago + in long threads everytime I view the thread.

Now back to the Political Thread [8] before I get flamed. LOL...
