Multiple disk failure resulted in a web site outage. We think we've recovered almost everything from the web site, so it should be back up and running.

Kudos for the speedy recovery of this website after such a serious hardware failure... and without losses. Thank you! |

Could there a new application (or even specialized CPU/GPU applications) be developed that make use of the AI capabilities of modern CPUS/SOCs and/or GPUs to plow through the SETI-data?

Thank you Eric! Even without an active SETI processing work units, this forum has become an international place where science minded people can talk with each other, and share perspectives about a wide range of topics. Did you update the main page Apr 3, 2025 or was it yesterday because I did not check. One thing is failure when it could happen many times, but also I made the date stamp wrong. |

Anyway SETI going to restart public monitoring scanning sky? I really still miss it. Those antennas sitting out there by themselves! Guess it vii ok it's so much. They are here anyway. I understand. But sure was a lot of fun. |

SETI was removed from the list of active projects a long time ago. https://setiathome.berkeley.edu/forum_thread.php?id=85267#2035163 The website remains however. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

We've been DDOSed the last month or so by assorted web cralwers that have been ignoring the robots.txt directive. I'm made blocking such things a bit more proactive. Hopefully we can stay up more than 10 minutes at a time now. |

Hopefully we can stay up more than 10 minutes at a time now. That seems to be an increasing issue these days. Those sending out AI/ML bots don't consider themselves to be included in the robots.txt exclusion list- it's only for search engine crawlers, not them. Grant Darwin NT |

Hopefully we can stay up more than 10 minutes at a time now. Well, every page here ends with copyright UC. Perhaps UC should send out C&D's to every one of those DDOSing log entries informing them that any model trained on UC material belongs to UC. At least UC has enough $ to pay lawyers to make most of them retrain their models. And this wouldn't just be for SETI but all websites at all the UC campuses. |

Great idea Gary. Perhaps even send out "rental bills". That is rental for the data stolen without permission. Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |
