Highly aptly: Watson's Law: The reliability of machinery is inversely proportional to the number and significance of any persons watching it. ... And it has to be on a Sunday... See new freedom: Mageia Linux Take a look for yourself: Linux Format The Future is what We all make IT (GPLv3) |

You'd think that just being a few weeks away from summer that heating wouldn't be needed, but sadly I've had to feed Robbie some wood again this morning. Though I do have the leftovers from a BBQ chook simmering away for another soup creation. Cheers. |

I would be happy if our heaters would work. The heating season has just startet and only 3 out of 6 heaters are functioning. In the living room the heater doesn`t turn off it is running full speed all day and night. The other two doesn`t warm up and no technican available. Well I just primed my oil column heater and I'm sure that it won't be much longer before the thermostat kicks it into action as yet another cold night sets in. Anyhow it's time for me to hit the sack. Cheers. |

11-7-2022 at 5:37 AM - PDT [Update:] Well, today I start regular Physical Therapy. I have to be there at 9:45 AM - PDT to turn in paperwork. I'm already scheduled for 10:00 AM with a Physical Therapist named Wes. From today through to December 16th for at least 2x per week I will have Physical Therapy on the left knee. Schedule has changed for the right knee. Instead of January 9, 2023, now it will be February 1, 2023 for the right knee's Total Knee Replacement surgery. I changed the bandage on the left knee two days ago, the original bandage was starting to look a little 'nasty'. I also took my second shower since leaving the hospital on the 25th. (Trying to conserve water here in CA.) I'm able to stand for the entire shower; BUT, have a shower stool to sit on, just in case. Having paid my monthly bills on 11-3-2023, I found I had enough to start repayment for my parents on the equipment I needed for the left knee's surgical recovery. A total of $150 was loaned to me, I've issued $50 towards repayment on 11-4-2023, and a bank draft is being sent to my dad from my bank. (I use 'Bill Pay' to pay all bills, including those that will get bank drafts/checks from the bank. I haven't written a regular check out of my account in years. Bill Pay is MUCH easier.) Things are really moving along, now. :-) I'm taking fewer pain pills. I still take one upon waking up, but the rest of the day becomes 'negotiable', and I wait until the pain either subsides on its own, or I just can't stand it anymore and then take one pain pill. Keep at it, Scott. You will be walking normally again in no time. I am back from 3 days in Berkeley. I was there for a workshop. Did not get to spend time with Eric or Angela this time. I did find a place with absolutely killer shawarma. Also discovered a new tax. Berkeley charges $0.25 for disposable cups. I didn't ask if you could bring your own. Tech has made inroads too. I had lunch at a deli where you order by bar codes. You sit at a table and scan the table code. Then you scan what you want to order, enter your card info and send it over to the kitchen. Soon your order shows up. Nearly no human contact. You got to love Berkeley. |

Given the "fun" I had last time I was in the US with my card and its four digit PIN, I can't help think how such a system would cope with non-US cards (hopefully better than my last visit) Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

I sympathize Mike, my gas furnace waits until 2-3am before giving out any heat. The 4 (Grace, Sylvester, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, & B**** Boy) cats and Groucho the Boxer are all fast asleep... Chitty can and has gone bang bang on two of the other cats, except Grace who he leaves alone... Chitty walks or stands near the Boxer and is Orange while the other 3 are Black. Heating is such a luxury for so many. The room I had in Berkeley had no heat. I had to use the hair dryer to take the chill out. They did not get a good review. It was not a low-end hotel either. At home, I have a nice big wood stove. There is no gas service and electricity is a bit pricey. So I burn wood. It is a little slow to heat the house but I love the natural heat. Besides I got a new chainsaw I am dying to try. |

I'm waiting for UPS and eventually FedEx to deliver some ant acids, WB cat litter in Lavender, a cat litter mat, and via FedEx a new toilet. And some food eventually if Amazon will send it... Plus 2 fluidmaster better than wax rings, a scraper, some velcro zip ties, and 150oz of Tide+Oxi. The T1 Trust, PRR T1 Class 4-4-4-4 #5550, 1 of America's First HST's |

Posting on a sunny Tuesday morning, but that's not expected to last long as more rain is expected (though we just missed out on yesterday's here). This morning I'm resurrecting 1 of the old laptops that I have here and it's already has a new owner. Cheers. |

Getting ready to go to work. Had a work meeting yesterday and got a cost of living increase on the paycheck. They said that it won’t affect annual raises next year. I have no problem with that yet when overtime wages start with a 2. |
