I'm adopting a 2nd cat, his name at the shelter is Sylvester, but I intend for his name to be Duo(gawd of death)...

He should be home after or on Friday, I hope as he needs to be fixed first.
The meet and greet is for Thursday, he's one of 6 adult male cats there, 4 others are like him, 1 is a gray tabby.

Well that's another BBQ chook carcass in the boiler. I'm not sure what style I'll do it in this time, but I'll make up my mind at the supermarket when I go and get more food for Dog as soon as I've got the meat off the bones. ;-)

We kicked off here this morning at a clear 9C (felt like 8C) with 27C being expected and currently it's 14C.

[edit] I just found out that I had enough fuel left in the can for 1 more tank of fuel in the mower, so I can now get the last bit of cross mowing of the yard done (I was done after 2 tanks of fuel yesterday) without going down the hill for more today.

Cheers.

Sunshine!

It's definitely spring!!

And no heating needed!

(Edit: That last comment might indicate that we produce too much hot air here...)

We've had nothing but bright sunshine here in the highlands today as the temp hit 26C (feels like 23C).

I finished getting the backyard cross mowed, had a couple of beers before having a shower and now I'm going to have a beer or 2 more before I de-bone that BBQ chook that's almost cool enough to do.

Cheers.

Winning as I bring my de-boned BBQ chook carcass back up to a simmer with a few veges added before the final steps take place. ;-)

Cheers.

Duo is now adopted, I can pick up my hefty 3yr old tuxie cat on the 15th.

The adoption was $30 before the cost to fill up my cars tank with 8 gallons of gasoline for $36.

He started purring when I picked him up and put him in my arms, he'll be neutered and microchipped.

Grace now has a BF...

I only had one small problem, the woman handling my cat & me could not believe I'm almost 62.

The next challenge is Grace and how she deals with him.
That does not always work out well.

Message 2093876 - Posted: 11 Feb 2022, 3:13:27 UTC - in response to Message 2093869.

When I had two cats at one time, one cat hissed at the other, it was over after that.

It took Cali, (a Calico, female), 3 weeks to get used to Einstein, (Russian Blue, male), before she stopped
hissing and trying to kill him.

We had to lock her in the Master Bedroom while he got to roam the house and get his scent all over the
place. Then we switched after a week and a half and she roamed the house picking up his scent and
realizing that he wasn't leaving. Then we switched again for a 'meeting' at the Master Bedroom door.

He put his paws under, and meowed to her. (Actually, he meowed to her, and was friendly to her from
the start. She was the one that wanted NOTHING to do with him.) At this meeting, she sniffed him
under the door. We let things be for a few minutes, my Ex with Einstein, me with Cali. When Cali
didn't hiss this time, we opened the door just ajar to let her see him. Her ears went back for a moment,
but she still didn't hiss, or try to kill him. So, we opened the door fully and she just stared at him. After a
moment of that she turned and walked towards the Master Bathroom hall and laid down. He slowly came
into the room. This was the 'beginning' of their friendship. From that point on, not only did she tolerate
Einstein, but they became the best of friends. They would actually play and wrestle with each other.
They even slept on the bed together at night.

So, be prepared to take similar steps in separating Grace from Duo until Duo gets his scent over the
entire place. You may also need to keep Grace in your Master Bedroom while this goes on with Duo.

I'm hoping for the best for all three of you. I'm also hoping Grace takes to Duo faster than Cali took
to Einstein. Good luck. :-)
