...The Pentagon later confirmed that Soleimani was killed by the U.S. on President Trump's orders.

....Soleimani, 62, was killed in an airstrike near Baghdad International Airport along with Abu Mahdi al Muhandis, head of the Iranian-backed Popular Mobilization Forces.

....The airstrike, apparently by a drone, came hours after Defense Secretary Mark Esper said that U.S. forces would preemptively hit Iranian-backed forces in Iraq and Syria if the paramilitary groups planned further attacks against U.S. bases or personnel.

BTW: Throughout human history. I believe, as I also hope you believe, that fighting an invading force. A force that will kill and enslave an innocent people. Would also be considered a necessity and not a negative.
