The 21jn12ac tasks are VHAR's and quickies. And 21ja16af here are VLAR's that are either noise bombs or short runs. Cheers. |

The positions are for Seti and not Seti@home as far as I can see. Not sure how this will impact us at all. Will this affect Nebula at all I wonder? All my screensavers show Breakthrough Listen tasks running data coming from Green Bank. So Breakthrough Listen is keeping SETI@home alive. Tullio |

DA seems to be running the development of Nebula on his own. Doesn't appear to have any other help but that is not obvious by his commentary in his Nebula thread. It is possible the new positions might lend some time to the Nebula project I guess. Seti@Home classic workunits:20,676 CPU time:74,226 hours A proud member of the OFA (Old Farts Association) |

The big question I have now is... will the seti machine go MIA again in the wee hours of Sunday morning (California time) 10:30ish UTC ?? I'm hoping that they have gotten the problem fixed as it has happened 3 Sundays in a row. |

They've given us more datafiles blc64_2bit_guppi_58642 * |

They've given us more datafiles . . Groundhog day #2 Stephen < shrug > |

Definitely another groundhog day of data. They can collect enough data in a day to keep us busy for weeks. It scares me to think about adding in Parke's data (but I still want it). The return rate is up to 121k, which isn't bad, but certainly higher than before, so this new data might take less time per WU ?? |

If you view the graphics of the data flow here: http://setiathome.berkeley.edu/kiosk/, it suggests that there are six sources for data. Arecibo, Green Bank, Parkes, MWA, LOFAR and MeerKat. We are doing Arecibo and Green Bank currently and maybe Parkes in the future. But what about the others? I don't remember discussions about data from them. |

LOFAR is the least likely for technical reasons. As to the others, they are unknown quantities, but are members of the SETI community. Being members of the community does not mean that the data they collect is "open to all", or that the format of that data is usable by all other members of the community. Other telescopes that do some SETI work include the Lovell (in stand-alone mode) and the Merlin Array, but neither has contributed data to SETI@Home. My results show that is processes about 10 to 15 seconds faster than the Blc35 data, or about 5%. So it will go that much quicker. Stephen . . |

The others are optical scopes I believe and their part is scanning for Laser signals. Stephen . . |

MeerKat is an array of radiotelescopes, part of Square Kilometer Array. No mention of FAST, the Chinese 500 meter antenna which is entering production. Tullio |

Both MWA & Meerkat are radio telescopes. MWA (Murchison Widefield Array) is a widefield array, so less suited to detailed "spotting" but OK for general surveys Meerkat is in South Africa and is a predecessor of the SKA array Bob Smith Member of Seti PIPPS (Pluto is a Planet Protest Society) Somewhere in the (un)known Universe? |

They've added some new files blc64_2bit_guppi_58692* (July 28, 2019). Here's to hoping they take time during today's shutdown to fix the Sunday morning issue. |
